Job Overview:
The position of Radiologic Technologist involves working under the direct supervision of the Senior Migration Health Nurse and receiving technical guidance from the IOM Teleradiology Center. The successful candidate will be responsible for processing screening X-rays of refugees and immigrants as part of the IOM Health Assessment Programme. This role requires adherence to international radiographic standards and the technical instructions of resettlement countries. The Radiologic Technologist will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and safety of radiological procedures, contributing to the overall health assessment of migrants, and maintaining high standards in the Radiology Unit.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Capture high-quality chest X-ray images of migrants as per requests from Physicians or Radiologists, ensuring compliance with IOM and international standards.
  • Explain the X-ray procedures to applicants, addressing any questions they may have.
  • Prepare examination rooms and equipment, ensuring proper identification checks and accurate data entry.
  • Implement appropriate radiographic techniques and radiation protection measures during X-ray procedures.
  • Process digital images, review quality, and repeat as necessary, reporting urgent findings to Radiologists or Physicians.
  • Maintain high-quality standards in the Radiology Unit through effective use of techniques and training of staff.
  • Ensure radiation safety for applicants and staff by adhering to protection regulations and monitoring exposure.
  • Conduct regular quality assurance checks on X-ray machines and coordinate maintenance as needed.
  • Optimize workflow in the Radiology Unit by improving standard operating procedures and ensuring timely processing of images. 1
  • Prepare daily worklists, verify applicant identities, and manage the uploading of images to the e-Medical website. 1
  • Communicate with Radiologists for image readings and coordinate the workflow for chest X-ray reports. 1
  • Implement infection control measures and maintain a clean work environment. 1
  • Suggest improvements for quality, speed, or safety of radiological procedures. 1
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Radiologic Technology from an accredited institution, with the scope of responsibilities aligned with national regulations. A valid license to practice Radiography is required where applicable. Candidates should demonstrate a strong understanding of radiographic techniques and safety protocols, as well as the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment. Strong communication skills and a commitment to maintaining high ethical standards are essential.

Educational Background:
The educational requirement for this position includes a Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Radiologic Technology. This education must be from an accredited academic institution, ensuring that the candidate has received the necessary training and knowledge to perform radiographic procedures in accordance with national regulations. The candidate should also be familiar with the technical requirements of resettlement countries.

Experience:
The position requires candidates to have relevant experience in radiologic technology, particularly in performing chest X-rays. Experience in a healthcare setting, especially one that involves working with migrants or in a health assessment program, is highly desirable. Candidates should demonstrate proficiency in using radiographic equipment and adhering to safety protocols.

Languages:
Proficiency in English and Tagalog is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of IOM’s official languages, which include French and Spanish, is considered an asset. Language proficiency will be evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and oral assessments to ensure effective communication in the workplace.

The position is subject to funding confirmation and the candidate's medical fitness for appointment. Verification of residency, visa, and government authorizations may be required. IOM provides coverage against occupational accidents and illnesses under the Compensation Plan, but does not offer evacuation or medical insurance for non-occupational issues.
