Job Description
Job Posting Organization:
The United Nations Office for Sustainable Development (UNOSD) was established in 2011 through a collaboration between the United Nations and the Government of the Republic of Korea. The organization is dedicated to supporting UN Member States in the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the achievement of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). UNOSD focuses particularly on assisting Least Developed Countries (LDCs), Small Island Developing States (SIDS), and Landlocked Developing States (LLDCs). The organization is supported by the Ministry of Environment of the Republic of Korea, Incheon Metropolitan City, and Yonsei University, and operates under the Division for Sustainable Development Goals (DSDG) of the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA).

Job Overview:
The Project Management Intern will play a crucial role in supporting the UNOSD's mission by engaging in various tasks that contribute to the planning and implementation of sustainable development initiatives. This internship is designed to be full-time and in-person, although adjustments can be made based on the successful candidate's needs. The intern will be involved in research, data management, and policy analysis, which are essential for the effective dissemination of information regarding the SDGs. The intern will also assist in organizing flagship events and activities, thereby gaining valuable experience in project management and international collaboration.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will be responsible for conducting research, recording and editing data, performing policy analysis, and synthesizing information relevant to the UNOSD's objectives. They will develop and maintain platforms for disseminating UNOSD data, news, and research through various channels, including social media. The intern will draft and/or translate communication materials related to events and research outputs. Additionally, they will assist with the logistics of organizing UNOSD's flagship and annual activities, such as forums, conferences, training sessions, and workshops. Administrative and clerical tasks related to these responsibilities will also be part of the intern's duties, along with any other tasks assigned by supervisors.

Required Qualifications:
Applicants must meet one of the following criteria: (a) be enrolled in or have completed a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in or have completed the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent). While professional work experience is not required for the UN Internship Programme, a field of study closely related to the internship is necessary. Applicants should demonstrate advanced knowledge of standard software applications, particularly MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, and MS Teams. Proficiency in writing and drafting complex documents in English is essential, and experience in organizing international conferences and conducting research on environmental issues is desirable.

Educational Background:
Candidates should be students in the final year of their first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), or enrolled in or have completed a Master’s or Ph.D. program. Proof of enrollment or completion must be provided with the application, and an official certificate will be required at a later stage.

Experience:
While no professional work experience is required, candidates should have relevant academic experience or internships that demonstrate their ability to conduct research and engage in project management activities. Experience in organizing events, particularly in an international context, is considered an asset.

Languages:
Fluency in spoken and written English is mandatory for this internship. Knowledge of an additional official UN language, such as French, is advantageous. The working languages of the United Nations Secretariat are English and French, and proficiency in any of the other official languages (Arabic, Chinese, Russian, and Spanish) is also beneficial.

Interns are not financially compensated by the United Nations, and all costs related to travel, visas, accommodation, and living expenses are the responsibility of the interns or their sponsoring institutions.
