Job Overview:
The security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Security Operations Centre (SOC) Assistant plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and security of personnel, premises, assets, and operations under the United Nations Security Management System (UNSMS). This position involves monitoring and coordinating communications related to security, as well as maintaining administrative data that supports security operations. The SOC Assistant is expected to respond to urgent calls for assistance, relay critical information to UNSMS personnel, and manage security communications effectively. The role requires the ability to work in a fast-paced and sometimes unpredictable environment, making it essential for the assistant to remain calm and composed while providing support to the response team. The SOC Assistant will also be responsible for monitoring news and security updates, ensuring that all personnel are informed of any emergencies or significant developments in the region.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The SOC Assistant will have a variety of duties and responsibilities, including but not limited to: assisting in the provision of security management support for effective program delivery; receiving, transmitting, and relaying security messages on behalf of senior security personnel; monitoring news from various media sources 24/7 and disseminating timely security messages; using the Security Communications System (SCS) to monitor field mission movements; verifying the operational status of the SCS; conducting personnel headcounts as instructed; recording security incidents in a centralized database; maintaining updated contact details for UNSMS personnel and their dependents; providing support in reporting safety and security incidents; contributing to knowledge networks; and performing other duties as necessary for the efficient functioning of the office.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess secondary education (high school diploma) as a minimum requirement. A university degree in Military Studies, Security Management, IT, Management, or a related field is preferred but not mandatory. Additionally, candidates should have solid experience in computer skills and information management, with proficiency in MS Office Suite and other relevant software. Experience with radio, satellite, and web-based communications is desired, along with prior experience in drafting reports and using Google Maps. Familiarity with the UN system or international NGOs is also advantageous, as is a good knowledge of the duty station.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes at least a secondary education (high school diploma). A bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Military Studies, Security Management, IT, or Management will be considered an asset but is not a strict requirement. Candidates with higher education qualifications may have an advantage in the selection process.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience for candidates with a high school diploma or 1 year of experience for those with a bachelor's degree. Experience in security or a related field is essential, along with a strong proficiency in computer-based tools and information management. Candidates should demonstrate their ability to handle security incidents and possess a solid understanding of security protocols and procedures.

Languages:
Fluency in English and Arabic is mandatory for this position. Candidates must be able to communicate effectively in both languages, as this is crucial for the role's responsibilities. While not mandatory, knowledge of additional languages may be considered an asset and could enhance a candidate's profile.
