The Driver position at UNICEF is crucial for ensuring the safe and effective implementation of the organization's operations. Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide safe and reliable driving services for UNICEF staff, officials, and visitors.
  • Perform routine vehicle care, maintenance, and readiness, including daily checks, cleaning, and reporting any necessary repairs.
  • Operate the vehicle tracking system (VTS) to log trip data and support safe driving behavior, or maintain manual logbooks if VTS is not installed.
  • Manage all travel documentation, including vehicle logs for mileage and fuel consumption.
  • Operate basic vehicle recovery tools, such as winches or jacks, in case of emergencies.
  • Ensure compliance with local traffic regulations and UNICEF's safety protocols.
  • Provide essential administrative support during non-driving periods, including assisting with mail, documents, and errands.
  • Engage in continuous self-directed learning to improve skills and stay updated with best practices.

Required Qualifications:
Minimum requirements include a secondary education, a valid driver’s license, and knowledge of local driving rules and regulations. A minimum of two years of work experience as a driver in an international organization, embassy, or UN system with a safe driving record is required. Optional skills include collaboration, problem-solving, and digital dexterity. Candidates should demonstrate UNICEF’s core values of Care, Respect, Integrity, Trust, Accountability, and Sustainability (CRITAS).

Educational Background:
A secondary education is required for this position, along with a valid driver’s license. Knowledge of local driving rules and regulations is essential to ensure safe driving practices.

Experience:
Candidates must have a minimum of two years of work experience as a driver in an international organization, embassy, or UN system, demonstrating a safe driving record. Relevant experience in development, fragile settings, and humanitarian contexts is desirable.

Languages:
Fluency in French or English is required for this position. Knowledge of a local language is considered an asset, enhancing communication and engagement with local communities.
