Job Overview:
The Intermediate Brand Designer will play a crucial role in extending UNICEF's brand expression across various platforms and initiatives. This position involves working collaboratively within the Global Division of Advocacy and Communication, as well as with Country Offices and National Committees worldwide. The designer will be responsible for creating a range of brand assets, including logo packages, branded merchandise, and comprehensive brand guidelines. The role requires a creative professional who can deliver high-quality design services that align with UNICEF's mission and values, ensuring that all branding efforts effectively communicate the organization's commitment to children's rights and welfare.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties of the Intermediate Brand Designer include the following key deliverables:
  • Design standards and assets for priority initiatives, including three different design directions for WCD Ideation and Strategy, a 40-page WCD Brand Guidelines document, and various social media assets and holiday cards.
  • Creation of branded collateral, such as logo packages in multiple languages and designs for branded merchandise like totes, pens, and notebooks.
  • Development of regular design resources, including PowerPoint and letterhead templates, and advocacy brief templates.
  • Providing design support for inclusive storytelling, which involves creating templates and brochures that promote inclusive narratives. The designer will be expected to meet specific deadlines for each deliverable, ensuring timely completion of all projects.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a university degree in Design, Art, Art Direction, Brand Design, or a related field. Additionally, a minimum of two years of experience in design, particularly with Adobe Creative Suite products such as InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop, is required. Candidates should have first-hand experience in creating branded collateral for the humanitarian sector and a solid understanding of UNICEF's brand identity system. Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team are essential.

Educational Background:
A university degree in a relevant field such as Design, Art, Art Direction, or Brand Design is mandatory for this position. This educational background provides the foundational knowledge and skills necessary for effective brand design and communication within a global organization like UNICEF.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of two years of professional experience in design, particularly in creating branded materials and collateral. Experience in the humanitarian sector is highly desirable, as it demonstrates an understanding of the unique challenges and requirements of branding in this field. Candidates should also have a proven track record of delivering high-quality design work that meets organizational standards and deadlines.

Languages:
While proficiency in English is mandatory, knowledge of additional languages is considered an asset. This is particularly relevant for creating branded materials in multiple languages, which is a key responsibility of the role. Additional Notes:
The consultancy assignment is set to last from December 1, 2025, to December 1, 2026, and is home/office based, allowing for remote work. Candidates must complete their profiles in UNICEF's e-Recruitment system and submit a financial proposal detailing costs per deliverable and total lump-sum for the assignment. Any travel costs and daily subsistence allowances will be covered by UNICEF if travel is required. Selected candidates must have valid health insurance coverage at the time of contract award and are responsible for ensuring their visa status is appropriate for the duration of the contract. UNICEF emphasizes a zero-tolerance policy towards misconduct and adheres to strict child safeguarding principles, requiring all selected candidates to undergo rigorous background checks.
