Job Overview:
The Data Structuring and Visualization Volunteer position is part of the Tech Volunteers for Resilience (Tech4R) programme, which is a collaborative initiative led by UNDP ICPSD and UNV. This programme aims to mobilize skilled digital volunteers to develop open-source solutions that promote transparency, accountability, and sustainable governance. In this role, the volunteer will work closely with the UNODC in Bosnia and Herzegovina to create a Digital Catalogue of Managed Assets. This open-access web platform will visualize and categorize government-managed properties, thereby enhancing institutional transparency and facilitating data-driven decision-making. The volunteer will be responsible for organizing, cleaning, and visualizing datasets to ensure the catalogue is accurate, informative, and user-friendly. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to a significant project that aims to improve public access to information regarding confiscated or seized assets.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The primary duties and responsibilities of the Data Structuring and Visualization Volunteer include:

• Collecting, structuring, and cleaning available datasets related to managed assets to ensure data integrity.
• Developing clear data taxonomies and metadata templates that will be utilized on the platform to enhance user experience.
• Creating data visualizations, including charts, dashboards, or maps, that effectively display asset distribution, categories, or usage patterns.
• Supporting the integration of structured datasets into the web platform to ensure seamless functionality.
• Ensuring data accuracy, consistency, and compliance with privacy and transparency principles throughout the project.
• Contributing to the preparation of a Data Management and Visualization Report for project documentation, which will serve as a reference for future initiatives.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates for the Data Structuring and Visualization Volunteer position should possess the following qualifications:

• Strong analytical skills with the ability to work with large datasets.
• Proficiency in data visualization tools and software, such as Tableau, Power BI, or similar platforms.
• Familiarity with data cleaning and structuring techniques, as well as experience in developing taxonomies and metadata.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively convey complex information.
• A proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

Educational Background:

Experience:
While this is a volunteer position and does not require extensive professional experience, candidates should ideally have some prior experience working with data, whether through internships, academic projects, or previous volunteer roles. Experience in data visualization and familiarity with open-source platforms will be considered an asset. The ability to demonstrate a commitment to learning and applying new skills in a practical context is essential.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position, as all documentation and communication will be conducted in English. This is an unpaid volunteer assignment, and candidates should be aware that it is not an employment opportunity.
