Job Overview:
The position of Praktikant*in Kommunikation is situated within the Arbeitsgemeinschaft Frieden und Entwicklung (FriEnt), which is a coalition of seven governmental and civil society institutions focused on development policy peace work in Germany. The primary goal of FriEnt is to advance and strengthen the fields of crisis prevention and peace promotion through consultation, dialogue, and networking. The intern will be involved in communication and event organization tasks for FriEnt, contributing to the development of communication strategies and supporting the execution of the FriEnt Peacebuilding Forum, a significant event scheduled for summer/autumn 202
  • This role offers a unique opportunity to engage in meaningful work that contributes to peacebuilding efforts while gaining practical experience in communication and event management.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will undertake various responsibilities during their internship, including: researching, writing, and editing content for the FriEnt websites and social media posts in both German and English; assisting in the implementation of publications and collaborating with agencies; contributing to the conception and execution of new communication tools; managing the posting of articles, photos, etc., in the CMS (WordPress); preparing and executing communication activities for the FriEnt Peacebuilding Forum; supporting the organization of the FriEnt Peacebuilding Forum; and assisting with internal knowledge management at FriEnt. The intern will be integrated into all processes at FriEnt and will take on smaller projects independently, providing a comprehensive learning experience.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates should possess a background in communication or humanities studies, with initial professional experiences through internships in communication, public relations, or press work. A passion for writing and the ability to articulate ideas clearly and effectively are essential. Additionally, candidates should have some experience in event organization, a strong interest or knowledge in peace promotion and development, and proficiency in the German language at a native level, along with negotiation-level English. Familiarity with content management systems (CMS) and social media platforms is preferred, as well as qualities such as independence, teamwork, resilience, and organizational skills.

Educational Background:
The ideal candidate should be currently enrolled in a degree program related to communication or humanities. The internship is only available to those who are currently registered as students, are in a training program that requires an internship, or have graduated no more than six months prior to the start of the internship.

Experience:
The position requires candidates to have some initial professional experience, ideally gained through internships in relevant fields such as communication, public relations, or event management. This experience will help the intern to effectively contribute to the tasks and responsibilities outlined in the role.

Languages:
Fluency in German at a native level is mandatory, along with strong English language skills at a negotiation level. Knowledge of additional languages may be considered an asset but is not explicitly required for this position.
