Job Overview:
The Senior Operational Support Data Retrieval (OSDR) Engineer will play a crucial role within the Engineering Division of the Maastricht Upper Area Control Centre (MUAC). This position involves taking ownership of OSDR products, ensuring the development, planning, and maintenance of software systems meet operational standards. The engineer will provide advanced technical support during project planning, coordinate tasks, and ensure compliance with documentation standards. The role requires analyzing complex change requests, conducting risk evaluations, and solving high-priority technical issues. The engineer will also coordinate system integration and validation processes, facilitate rapid prototyping, and contribute to technical discussions with stakeholders. Additionally, the role includes mentoring junior staff and staying updated on relevant tools and processes to enhance support capabilities.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Required Qualifications:
Candidates must have completed a post-secondary education in fields such as Computer Science or Engineering, meeting European Qualifications Framework (EQF) Level 5 or higher. Internal candidates can verify their in-house experience equivalency on the intranet. Additionally, a minimum of 8 years of relevant professional experience is required, including at least 5 years as a full-stack developer with Java in the back-end and Angular/TypeScript in the front-end. Proficiency in technical drafting in English is essential, and familiarity with tools such as Jira and Git/Bitbucket is advantageous. Knowledge of modern service-oriented architectures, middleware, message brokers, containers, API integration, and data distribution is also beneficial.
Educational Background:
The position requires a post-secondary education in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field that meets the European Qualifications Framework (EQF) Level 5 or higher. Candidates should have a strong foundation in software development principles and practices, particularly in full-stack development.
Experience:
The ideal candidate should possess a minimum of 8 years of relevant professional experience, with at least 5 years specifically in full-stack development. This experience should encompass both back-end development using Java and Spring Boot, as well as front-end development using JavaScript, TypeScript, CSS, HTML5, and Angular. Familiarity with software development methodologies, particularly SCRUM, is also beneficial.
Languages:
Proficiency in English is mandatory, with candidates expected to demonstrate a level of C1 or C2 according to the Common European Framework of References for languages (CEFR). Knowledge of French is also beneficial but not mandatory for this position.
Additional Notes:
The position is offered as a full-time role with a contract duration of 5 years, which may be extended or converted into an undetermined contract. - Deliver production-ready code for feature enhancements and bug fixes, ensuring documentation and testing are completed.
