Job Overview: The internship-position" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">internship position is a full-time role within the Education Section of the Sustainable Response Service at UNHCR Copenhagen. The intern will be involved in various projects aimed at increasing the enrollment of young refugee women and men in higher education, aligning with the 15by30 target set by UNHCR. The intern will have the opportunity to engage in meaningful work that includes drafting guidance documents, supporting data collection, report drafting, and developing infographics. The role is designed to provide interns with opportunities to lead projects and develop concrete deliverables, ensuring that they gain valuable experience in a supportive environment.
Duties and Responsibilities: The intern will be responsible for analyzing pledges made to the Global Refugee Forum (GRF), supporting webinars, and working with refugee youth leaders to integrate various student leadership initiatives. They will assist in planning for student representation at the GRF Progress Review in Geneva and support the development of the global refugee higher education newsletter. Additional responsibilities include drafting reports and talking points, providing inputs to UNHCR reports, and ensuring the dissemination of relevant information within the team.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must be recent graduates or current students in a relevant field, having completed at least two years of undergraduate studies. They should not have exhausted the maximum cumulative internship period with UNHCR. Desirable qualifications include a degree in law, social sciences, political science, education, or development studies, along with excellent communication skills in English and experience in refugee higher education programming or advocacy initiatives.
Educational Background: Candidates should have completed at least two years of undergraduate studies in a field relevant to UNHCR's work. A degree in law, social sciences, political science, education, or development studies is preferred, but any relevant field may be accepted depending on the candidate's interests.
Experience: The position requires candidates to have some experience related to refugee higher education programming, student leadership development, or advocacy initiatives. Experience working with education policy, research methodologies, or international development is considered an asset.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, and additional languages may be beneficial but are not specified as required.
Additional Notes: This is a full-time internship with working hours from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, Monday to Friday. Interns will receive an allowance to help cover living expenses if they do not receive financial support from another source. The internship typically lasts between two to six months, with the possibility of extension up to eight months for full-time internships. Interns are responsible for acquiring necessary visas and health insurance, and adjustments for candidates with disabilities will be provided upon request.
