Job Overview: The Civil Engineering Specialist position is crucial for the successful implementation of FAO's project aimed at promoting climate-smart agriculture and enhancing the adaptive capacity of vulnerable rural communities in Egypt. The specialist will provide technical support for construction and rehabilitation works in three governorates: Beheira, Kafr El-Sheikh, and Aswan. This role involves assessing existing buildings, supporting the design and construction of facilities, and ensuring compliance with safety and engineering standards. Duties and Responsibilities: The Civil Engineering Specialist will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including: conducting condition assessments of existing buildings, supporting the design process for cooling and food processing facilities, preparing technical reports, developing rehabilitation plans with design drawings and Bills of Quantities (BoQs), reviewing engineering assessments and designs, promoting safety and resilience in rehabilitation activities, monitoring compliance with designs and safety standards, providing technical input during procurement processes, ensuring proper documentation of engineering files, maintaining communication with architects and engineers, and facilitating information exchange among project staff. The specialist may also be required to perform additional duties as necessary to support the project's goals.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree or higher in Civil or Structural Engineering or a related field. A minimum of 5 years of experience in building construction and rehabilitation projects is required. Candidates should have a working knowledge of Arabic (level C) and limited knowledge of English (level B). Additionally, candidates must be nationals of Egypt to be eligible for this position.
