Job Overview:
The Consultant position at UNICEF involves providing specialized expertise to support the organization's mission of safeguarding children's rights and enhancing their well-being. The consultant will be expected to engage in various projects that align with UNICEF's goals, contributing to the development and implementation of strategies that address the needs of vulnerable children. This role requires a deep understanding of child rights, program management, and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders. The consultant will also be responsible for ensuring that all activities adhere to UNICEF's principles and standards, particularly in relation to child protection and safeguarding.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The consultant will be tasked with a range of responsibilities, including but not limited to: conducting assessments and evaluations of programs aimed at improving child welfare; developing and implementing project plans in alignment with UNICEF's strategic objectives; collaborating with local partners and stakeholders to ensure effective program delivery; providing technical assistance and capacity building to local organizations; preparing reports and documentation to communicate progress and outcomes; participating in meetings and workshops to share insights and best practices; ensuring compliance with UNICEF's policies and procedures, particularly regarding child protection and safeguarding; and contributing to the development of training materials and resources for staff and partners.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a strong background in child rights, social work, or a related field, with demonstrated experience in program management and implementation. They should have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a team environment. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential, along with proficiency in project management tools and methodologies. Familiarity with UNICEF's mission and values, as well as a commitment to diversity and inclusion, is highly desirable.

Educational Background:
A minimum of a bachelor's degree in social sciences, international development, public health, or a related field is required. A master's degree in a relevant discipline is preferred and may be considered an asset for candidates applying for more senior consultancy roles. Additional certifications or training in child protection, program evaluation, or project management will be advantageous.

Experience:
Candidates should have at least 3-5 years of relevant professional experience in child welfare, social services, or international development. Experience working with children and families in vulnerable situations, as well as familiarity with UNICEF's programs and policies, will be highly regarded. Previous consultancy experience, particularly in a humanitarian or development context, is also beneficial.

Languages:
Fluency in Spanish is mandatory, as the position is based in El Salvador. Proficiency in English is highly desirable, and knowledge of other languages spoken in the region may be considered an asset.

Additional Notes:
The consultancy position is not classified as a staff member under the UN regulations and rules, meaning that consultants will not receive benefits such as health insurance or paid leave. The contract terms will be governed by the General Conditions of Contracts for the Services of Individual Consultants and Contractors. Consultants are responsible for their tax obligations according to local laws. Selected candidates must ensure that they have valid visas and health insurance for the duration of their contract. Additionally, candidates will be required to confirm their full vaccination status against COVID-19 with a WHO-approved vaccine before starting their assignment, unless they are working remotely and will not interact directly with UNICEF facilities or communities.
