Job Overview:
The Principal, Portfolio Management EMEA is a key role within the Treasury Department, focusing on managing financial risks associated with local currency financing. This position requires expertise in interest rates and foreign exchange markets, with responsibilities that include developing the Bank's capacity to manage local currency market risks and offering tailored financial products to clients. The role also involves supporting market development in less developed regions, ensuring that the Bank can effectively operate and meet client demands. The Principal will work under the guidance of the Director and/or Associate Director, contributing to the strategic direction of the Treasury's local currency operations and ensuring compliance with risk management frameworks.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Principal, Portfolio Management EMEA will be responsible for assessing market environments and managing market risks in relevant currencies, including interest rate, FX, liquidity, and credit risks. Key duties include formulating and implementing investment strategies, maintaining liquidity and product offerings, and developing relationships with local market counterparties and Central Banks. The role also involves supporting market development initiatives, coordinating policy dialogue, and providing technical cooperation to enhance local currency lending capabilities. Additionally, the Principal will be expected to provide training and support to new team members on project management and procurement processes, ensuring that the team operates effectively and efficiently.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess significant experience in financial markets, ideally within a major financial institution, with a strong understanding of interest rate and FX markets. Knowledge of relevant financial products, including vanilla interest rate derivatives and FX instruments, is essential. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, along with the ability to interpret macroeconomic data, are required. Candidates should also demonstrate partnership and influencing skills, as well as the ability to secure donor funding and manage technical cooperation projects. Proficiency in relevant technological systems, such as Bloomberg and Excel, is necessary.

Educational Background:
A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience is required for this position. A Master’s degree is desirable but not mandatory. Candidates must have strong English language skills, both written and verbal, and proficiency in a second language from one of EBRD’s countries of operation is highly desirable.

Experience:
The ideal candidate should have substantial experience in financial markets, particularly in roles related to trading, execution, or Treasury functions. Experience in managing technical cooperation projects and securing donor funding is a plus. The ability to develop and maintain relationships with various stakeholders, including local market counterparties and Central Banks, is crucial for success in this role.

Languages:
Strong English language skills are mandatory, with reading, writing, and comprehension abilities being essential. A second language from one of EBRD’s countries of operation is highly desirable and can enhance the candidate's profile.
