Job Overview:
The Project Assistant will play a crucial role in supporting the implementation of the Australian Government Anti-People Smuggling Communication Campaign project. This position involves assisting the project team in organizing socio-cultural and awareness-raising activities, ensuring that project activities are executed in a timely manner, and facilitating communication and coordination among various stakeholders. The Project Assistant will also be responsible for compiling progress updates, preparing documentation, and drafting outreach materials related to safe migration and human trafficking. This role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to the project's objectives, as well as the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and external partners.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Support the project team in organizing socio-cultural and awareness-raising activities to promote the objectives of the project.
  • Assist in the procurement process by raising Purchase Requisitions (PRs) and managing related administrative tasks to ensure timely implementation of project activities.
  • Facilitate administrative coordination among colleagues, units, and external stakeholders, maintaining close communication with the supervisor.
  • Compile regular progress updates and contribute to project-related reports to keep all stakeholders informed.
  • Prepare relevant documentation such as attendance sheets, agendas, and meeting minutes in English, Bengali, and local languages as required.
  • Draft targeted communications and outreach materials (IEC, BCC Materials) focusing on safe and regular migration, human trafficking, and smuggling.
  • Organize meetings, workshops, and events with various stakeholders within the framework of the project/unit.
  • Contribute to drafting reports and other project-related documents, including donor reports and meeting minutes.
  • Undertake duty travel within the country to support project operations as needed. 1
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor or senior management.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a High School diploma with three years of relevant professional experience, or a Bachelor’s degree in social science, Public Administration, Economics, International Relations, or a related field, along with relevant training and at least one year of experience in project implementation. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate a strong understanding of human rights and protection issues, particularly in the context of migration and trafficking.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a High School diploma or a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as social science, Public Administration, Economics, or International Relations. Relevant training in project management or implementation is also necessary, along with a solid understanding of the issues related to migration and human trafficking.

Experience:
The position requires at least one year of professional experience in project implementation or support, preferably within a government, non-government, or international organization. Candidates with a High School diploma should have three years of relevant experience. Prior experience working with UN agencies, INGOs, or NGOs is highly desirable, as is experience liaising with government counterparts and donors.

Languages:
Proficiency in English and Bangla is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of IOM's official languages, which include French and Spanish, is considered an advantage. Language proficiency will be evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments to ensure candidates meet the communication requirements of the role.

Additional Notes:
This position is subject to local recruitment, and only candidates holding a valid residence and work permit for Bangladesh will be considered. The appointment is contingent upon funding confirmation and the candidate's medical fitness for appointment. The selection process may also be used to fill similar positions in various duty stations.
