Job Overview:
The Urban Finance and Economy Consultant will play a crucial role in developing the Finance Strategy Course for UN-Habitat. This position involves compiling and refining course materials, ensuring coherence and alignment with strategic learning objectives. The consultant will be responsible for editing and proofreading content to maintain academic accuracy and clarity. Collaboration with instructional designers and subject matter experts is essential to enhance the course's quality. The consultant will also ensure that the final course package meets institutional standards and is ready for implementation or publication. The expected duration of this consultancy is four months, during which the consultant will engage in course planning, content creation, and the development of interactive learning activities.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The consultant's duties include:
  • Course Planning and Structure Development: Designing the framework and learning objectives of the Finance Strategy Course, conducting research on corporate finance trends, defining course outcomes, and developing a logical structure that integrates theory with practical applications.
  • Content Creation: Drafting six chapters that cover foundational concepts in corporate finance, advanced topics such as risk management and investment strategy, and ensuring clarity and consistency with academic standards.
  • Development of Interactive Learning Activities: Designing engaging exercises, simulations, and case analyses to enhance learner participation and understanding, aligned with each chapter's content.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a bachelor's degree in development studies, urban planning, economics, public policy, public finance, political science, or a related field. Additionally, at least two years of relevant work experience in local economic development, urban planning, public finance, or public policy is required. The role demands strong analytical skills, the ability to create educational content, and a solid understanding of financial principles and urban development.

Educational Background:
A bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as development studies, urban planning, economics, public policy, public finance, or political science is mandatory for this position. This educational background provides the necessary foundation for understanding the complexities of urban finance and economic development.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of two years of relevant work experience. This experience should be in areas related to local economic development, urban planning, public finance, or public policy, demonstrating the candidate's ability to apply theoretical knowledge in practical settings and contribute effectively to the development of educational materials.

Languages:
Fluency in written and verbal English is mandatory for this position, as it is the primary language of communication. Additionally, proficiency in Chinese is considered an asset, which may enhance the consultant's ability to engage with a broader audience and contribute to multilingual educational materials.
