Job Overview: The Communications Assistant - Multimedia will play a crucial role in supporting the Communications and Media Office (COM) Unit at WFP Cameroon. This position involves producing high-quality audio, visual, and multimedia materials that align with WFP Cameroon’s strategic communication goals for 2024–202
The incumbent will be responsible for creating compelling video and photo content that effectively showcases WFP's field activities and the impact of its work on beneficiaries. The role requires proficiency in professional design and editing tools, as well as the ability to write engaging stories and social media posts that resonate with WFP's communication priorities. The Communications Assistant will also manage the publication and scheduling of multimedia content across various digital platforms, ensuring consistency with WFP's branding and editorial standards. This position is vital for enhancing donor visibility and public awareness of WFP's initiatives and will involve collaboration with various stakeholders, including government counterparts, UN agencies, and media partners.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Support the Communications and Media Office (COM) Unit in producing high-quality audio, visual, and multimedia materials that align with WFP Cameroon’s COM 2024–2028 strategy.
Produce, film, edit, and package compelling video and photo content that effectively showcases WFP Cameroon’s field activities, beneficiaries, and results.
Utilize professional design and editing tools such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign to create visually engaging content for internal and external dissemination.
Write engaging human-interest stories, captions, and social media posts to complement photo and video content, ensuring alignment with WFP's tone and communication priorities.
Support the publication and scheduling of multimedia content across WFP Cameroon’s digital platforms, including social media and website, ensuring consistency with corporate branding and editorial standards.
Apply best practices in video production, photography, graphic design, and storytelling to ensure all outputs meet WFP quality standards and communicate impact clearly.
Manage and maintain an organized multimedia library, including photo, video, and design assets, ensuring accessibility and proper metadata tagging.
Provide coverage of field missions, donor visits, and key events through photography, videography, and short field stories to enhance donor visibility and public awareness.
Liaise with government counterparts, UN agencies, media, and partners on joint communication initiatives, field visits, and press events in line with the COM strategy. 1
Follow standard emergency preparedness and response practices to ensure WFP can rapidly produce, edit, and disseminate communication materials during emergencies. 1
Respond to various requests for communication and multimedia support, ensuring timely and accurate completion of all assigned tasks. 1
Perform other related duties as required.
Required Qualifications: a) Advanced skills in Adobe Creative Suite, including Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator, Audition, and InDesign. b) Strong expertise in multimedia production, including photography, videography, editing, animation, and motion graphics. c) Ability to produce clear, engaging visual storytelling content and concise digital writing for social media and online platforms. d) Familiarity with digital content planning, analytics, and social media management tools. e) Creative mindset, excellent aesthetic judgment, and attention to visual detail. f) Strong coordination and teamwork abilities in a fast-paced, multicultural environment. g) Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain WFP quality and brand standards.
Educational Background: Completion of secondary school education is required. A post-secondary certificate in a related functional area is desirable, providing a foundation for the skills needed in this role.
Experience: The position requires five years of professional experience in communications, demonstrating a strong background in multimedia production and storytelling.
Languages: Fluency (level C) in English is mandatory. Additionally, fluency (level C) or intermediate knowledge (level B) of another official language is preferred, enhancing communication capabilities within the diverse WFP environment.
Additional Notes: This position is classified as a Service Contract (SC) at grade SC5, with a duration of 12 months. The duty station is located in Yaounde, Cameroon.
