Job Overview: The Team Leader for the Family and Child Connect program will play a crucial role in guiding a dedicated team of practitioners to support families facing various challenges. This full-time, maximum term position is based in Mount Isa and involves overseeing the operational and administrative aspects of the program. The leader will be responsible for managing services in remote locations, ensuring that families receive the necessary support to build better relationships, manage behaviors, and address issues such as domestic violence, substance abuse, and financial management. The role requires a trauma-informed and culturally sensitive approach, particularly when working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. The Team Leader will report to the Regional Manager and will be instrumental in fostering a learning culture within the team, ensuring that practitioners are equipped with the latest knowledge and skills to effectively support families.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Team Leader will oversee the day-to-day operations of the Family and Child Connect Program, including the Local Level Alliance and Family Integrated Case Management services. Key responsibilities include leading a team of practitioners, providing expert support and advice during supervision sessions, and ensuring that the program meets its objectives. The leader will also be responsible for developing and maintaining partnerships with external organizations, facilitating training and development opportunities for team members, and actively participating in community engagement initiatives. Additionally, the Team Leader will be expected to model best practices in trauma-informed care and to advocate for the rights and needs of children and families within the community.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must have demonstrated experience working with children and families, particularly those experiencing family and domestic violence. Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities is also essential. A Bachelor’s degree in a related field such as Social Work or Community Development is required, or significant equivalent experience in a relevant role. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, the ability to foster a supportive team environment, and a commitment to the principles of child safety and rights.
