Job Overview:
The position of Driver at UNHCR involves not only driving official vehicles but also ensuring the upkeep and maintenance of these vehicles according to the technical guidance and specifications set by the organization. The driver will be supervised by the Administrative Officer or another designated staff member and is expected to follow strict security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security instructions. The role requires regular interaction with UNHCR staff and external partners, including government authorities, which necessitates a limited exchange of information. The driver must adhere to UNHCR's core values of professionalism, integrity, and respect for diversity while performing their duties.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Driver will be responsible for the following duties: driving UNHCR vehicles for the transport of authorized personnel, delivering and collecting documents and items, meeting official personnel at airports and facilitating immigration and customs formalities, performing daily maintenance checks on assigned vehicles (including oil, water, battery, brakes, and tires), ensuring vehicles are roadworthy and meet security standards, performing minor repairs, arranging for major repairs, keeping vehicles clean, logging official trips and vehicle usage, ensuring compliance with local regulations in case of accidents, following security guidance from supervisors, ensuring valid documentation for passengers and cargo, and supporting risk management efforts in the area of responsibility. The driver may also be required to perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a valid driving license and have knowledge of driving rules and regulations. Essential functional skills include basic vehicle mechanical skills and adherence to driving regulations. The position requires a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, with a completion of primary education or a high school diploma. Previous experience working with the UN or a humanitarian agency is desirable, as is experience in driving armored or heavy vehicles. Strong knowledge of the road networks in Aleppo and Idlib Governorates is also beneficial.

Educational Background:
The educational requirement for this position includes the completion of primary education or a high school diploma. No specific field of education is mandated, but relevant certifications such as a driving license are essential for the role.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 2 years of relevant driving experience. Candidates should have a solid understanding of driving regulations and vehicle maintenance, as well as experience in operating vehicles in challenging environments, particularly in humanitarian contexts.

Languages:
For this position, knowledge of English is mandatory, and familiarity with the UN working language of the duty station is required if it is not English. Knowledge of the local language is also beneficial, particularly for General Service jobs. Candidates are expected to have at least a B2 level proficiency in the required languages.
