Interns will engage directly with the organization's principles, programs, and strategies, gaining practical experience relevant to their field of study. This internship is designed to enhance understanding of labor administration and occupational safety and health (OSH) while providing support to the Labour Inspection and OSH Component. Interns will work under the supervision of the Technical Specialist/Team Lead, contributing to various office support tasks that are essential for the effective functioning of the department. It is important to note that this internship does not guarantee future employment with the ILO, and candidates should not expect a career path within the organization following the internship.
Duties and Responsibilities: Interns will be responsible for a range of administrative and operational support tasks, including but not limited to: providing general office administration support, drafting correspondence and documents, maintaining and updating databases, processing administrative actions in the enterprise resource planning (ERP) system, assisting with travel arrangements for staff, supporting meetings and events, managing mail and correspondence, maintaining inventories of office supplies, and responding to inquiries from staff and visitors. Interns will also be expected to keep abreast of changes in operational rules and regulations and perform any other duties assigned by the LI & OSH component. The role requires adaptability, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must meet the following qualifications: completion of an Honours or Graduation degree in any discipline, with a preference for Business Administration. Additionally, candidates should be enrolled in their final year of a graduate degree program or have completed such a program no longer than one year ago. Relevant work experience in administrative support and operations is highly desirable, and knowledge of IT systems will be considered an advantage. Candidates must also demonstrate good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team setting.
Educational Background: The educational requirement for this internship includes the completion of an Honours or Graduation degree in any discipline. A degree in Business Administration is considered an added advantage. Candidates must be in their final year of study or have graduated within the last year to be eligible for this internship.
Experience: Candidates should possess relevant work experience in providing administrative support and operations-related tasks. Experience in report writing is also essential, as interns will be required to draft and prepare various documents and correspondence. Familiarity with IT systems and tools will be beneficial for performing the duties associated with this internship.
Languages: A working knowledge of at least one of the ILO's official languages (English, French, Spanish) is mandatory. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to write high-quality reports in English, as this is a critical component of the internship.
