The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) is a prominent global entity dedicated to combating illicit drugs, crime, corruption, and terrorism. Established to enhance international cooperation in criminal matters, UNODC has developed a reputation for its expertise in these critical areas. The organization operates through its Regional Office for Southeast Asia and the Pacific (ROSEAP), which consists of a diverse team of professionals who provide technical assistance and advice on various issues, including the rule of law, law enforcement, and drug-related health matters. ROSEAP is strategically positioned to implement its initiatives in close proximity to the regions that require support, maintaining a satellite presence in ten countries, including Fiji, to effectively address local challenges and foster collaboration with member states and regional organizations.

Job Overview:
The position involves supporting the UNODC in producing graphic design and layout for a study focused on youth perceptions of corruption in the Pacific. This study aims to capture how young individuals experience and respond to corruption, thereby informing policymakers and stakeholders about the integrity challenges faced by youth in the region. The graphic design work will play a crucial role in presenting research findings in a manner that is not only visually appealing but also resonates with the Pacific youth demographic. The design should reflect the cultural identity of the Pacific while adhering to UNODC's global branding guidelines, ensuring that the final product is both authentic and credible. The role requires collaboration with the Head of Office and the Anti-Corruption Programme Officer, emphasizing the importance of teamwork in achieving the project's objectives.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Online Volunteers will be tasked with several key responsibilities, including:
  • Designing and presenting research findings in a clear, engaging, and visually appealing manner that captures the essence of the study.
  • Ensuring that the report authentically represents the perspectives of Pacific youth while maintaining credibility for policymakers and international stakeholders.
  • Highlighting significant data points and youth quotes through the use of visuals, sidebars, and pull-outs to enhance the report's impact.
  • Creating design assets that can be utilized across various platforms, including social media, presentations, and policy dialogues, to maximize the reach and effectiveness of the findings.
  • Following specific design guidelines that will be provided to ensure consistency and alignment with UNODC's branding.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates should possess a strong background in graphic design, with proficiency in design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop). A solid understanding of visual communication principles and experience in creating engaging layouts for reports or publications is essential. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate creativity and an ability to adapt designs to reflect cultural contexts, particularly those relevant to the Pacific region. Strong attention to detail and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment are also important qualifications for this role.

Educational Background:
A degree in graphic design, visual communication, or a related field is preferred. Candidates with relevant certifications or extensive experience in graphic design may also be considered. A strong portfolio showcasing previous design work, particularly in the context of social issues or youth engagement, will be advantageous.

Experience:
Candidates should have prior experience in graphic design, ideally with a focus on projects related to social issues, youth engagement, or community development. Experience working with international organizations or on projects that require cultural sensitivity and inclusivity will be highly regarded. The ability to manage multiple design tasks and meet deadlines is also crucial for this position.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, as all communications and design guidelines will be provided in this language. Knowledge of Pacific languages or dialects would be considered an asset, as it may enhance the authenticity of the design work and its resonance with the target audience.
