Job Overview: The Information and Communication Technology Assistant will play a crucial role in providing ICT services within the UNODC's Regional Office for Central Asia. This position involves daily technical support for desktop and laptop hardware and software, as well as managing network infrastructure and corporate productivity tools. The incumbent will be responsible for ensuring compliance with UNODC standards for technology and will assist in updating and maintaining the computing technology facilities. The role requires a proactive approach to troubleshooting and servicing clients' needs, promoting a client-oriented approach, and guiding the use of new technologies. The ICT Assistant will also be involved in moving existing data to cloud-based options and supporting innovation through modern technologies such as AI and Big Data. Duties and Responsibilities: The specific duties of the Information and Communication Technology Assistant include ensuring compliance with corporate information management and technology standards, assisting in the development of internal ICT policies, and supporting the transition to cloud-based data management. The incumbent will provide technical support for hardware and software, maintain equipment, perform software updates, and troubleshoot desktop issues. Responsibilities also include assisting with network services, monitoring Active Directory users, configuring network printers, and maintaining email systems. The ICT Assistant will be tasked with backup and restoration procedures, maintaining LAN infrastructure, and providing support to UNODC project offices in the region. Additionally, the role involves guiding procurement processes for new ICT equipment, maintaining an inventory of software and hardware, and organizing training sessions for staff on ICT issues. The incumbent will also assist in data collection and analysis, prepare presentations and reports, and perform other related duties as required.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a high school diploma or equivalent. Certification in hardware and software management, such as Microsoft or Cisco Certification, is desirable. The position requires a minimum of five years of relevant working experience in information technology and systems, particularly in network and telecommunications administration. For candidates with a first-level university degree or higher, the required experience is reduced to three years. Proficiency in using various hardware and software systems, including Unix/Linux, Windows, Microsoft Active Directory, and Office 365, is essential. Experience within the United Nations system or similar international organizations is considered an advantage.
