Job Overview: The Senior Practitioner for Men's Behaviour Change programs will play a crucial role in supporting the Gulf communities, including Normanton, Doomadgee, and Mornington Island. This full-time permanent position involves reporting to the Team Leader and being an integral part of the Domestic and Family Violence team. The role requires traveling across the Gulf each week to facilitate Men's Behaviour Change programs in a group setting. The practitioner will maintain effective stakeholder relationships by liaising with local communities, professionals, service providers, and referral services to ensure that the programs meet client demands. Additionally, the role involves role modeling and facilitating a learning culture, managing risks to program delivery, and ensuring child safeguarding. The ideal candidate will have a strong desire to make a positive impact in the community, particularly with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families, and will possess the leadership skills necessary to mentor other practitioners.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Senior Practitioner include:
Facilitating Men's Behaviour Change programs in a group setting across the Gulf communities.
Traveling to Doomadgee, Mornington Island, and Normanton as needed to support program delivery.
Maintaining effective relationships with stakeholders, including local communities and service providers.
Role modeling and fostering a learning culture within the team.
Staying informed about relevant research and programmatic themes to enhance team skills.
Identifying and managing risks related to program delivery, staff wellbeing, and child safeguarding.
Mentoring and supporting other practitioners in their professional development.
Engaging with the community to understand their needs and adapt services accordingly.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must demonstrate experience in working with men using violence, families experiencing domestic violence, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. A degree in a relevant human services field is required, along with significant equivalent experience. The role also requires experience in rural and remote community work, as well as the ability and willingness to travel as needed.
