Job Overview: As a Pension Assistant at EUROCONTROL, you will play a crucial role in managing the daily administration of pension rights, taxes, allowances, and other entitlements for former staff and pensioners. This position requires close collaboration with the Pension Team Leader and other team members to ensure compliance with applicable rules and policies. You will be responsible for administering individual pension rights, handling tax implications, and supporting the end-of-service process. Additionally, you will contribute to projects aimed at improving the efficiency of the service, making this role both dynamic and impactful. Your work will directly affect the lives of pensioners, ensuring they receive the benefits they are entitled to in a timely and accurate manner.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Serve as the focal point for countries with a significant number of EUROCONTROL pensioners, ensuring effective communication and prompt resolution of inquiries.
Administer individual pension rights, including calculations on tax compensation and survivor’s pensions, and prepare necessary administrative documents.
Handle household, educational, and family allowances, as well as sickness cover for pensioners.
Provide assistance regarding tax implications related to the EUROCONTROL pension and internal tax scheme.
Support the administration of the end-of-service process, ensuring correct payment of employee benefits and entitlement to unemployment allowances.
Manage the inward transfer of pension rights for new staff and actuarial pension rights for departing employees.
Maintain databases with individual entitlements, ensuring confidentiality and accuracy.
Participate in improvement initiatives, proposing changes to enhance service delivery.
Carry out any other tasks aligned with the main purpose of the job.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must meet one of the following educational and experience requirements:
Completion of third-level studies at EQF Level 7 or higher (Master’s degree or equivalent) with a minimum of 3 years of relevant working experience.
Completion of third-level studies at EQF Level 6 or higher (Bachelor’s degree or equivalent) with a minimum of 4 years of relevant working experience.
Completion of post-secondary education at EQF Level 5 or higher with a minimum of 6 years of relevant working experience. A degree in HR, Social Sciences, Finance, or Law is considered an asset. Candidates should also have experience in HR administration, preferably in compensation and benefits within an international organization or national administration.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes completion of third-level studies that meet the European Qualifications Framework (EQF) Level 5, 6, or
This translates to a post-secondary education, a Bachelor’s degree, or a Master’s degree, respectively. Candidates with degrees in relevant fields such as Human Resources, Social Sciences, Finance, or Law will be given preference, as these areas of study provide a strong foundation for understanding the complexities of pension administration and related legal frameworks.
Experience: Candidates should possess a minimum of 3 to 6 years of relevant working experience, depending on their educational qualifications. Experience in HR administration, particularly in compensation and benefits, is essential. Familiarity with social security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security regulations, especially in the Benelux region, Germany, or France, is highly desirable. Additionally, experience with software tools such as PeopleSoft, SharePoint, SAP Business Objects, and Power BI will be considered advantageous, as these tools are often used in the administration of pension rights and entitlements.
Languages: Proficiency in English and French is mandatory for this position. Candidates must demonstrate a high level of proficiency (C1/C2) in one of these languages and an independent user level (B1/B2) in the other. Knowledge of additional European languages, particularly Dutch or German, would be considered an asset, enhancing communication with a diverse group of pensioners and stakeholders.
Additional Notes: The position is offered on a contract basis for a duration of 5 years, with the possibility of extension or conversion into an indefinite contract. Candidates will undergo a probationary period of nine months before being established in the post. The selected candidate will be engaged at the basic grade of the advertised grades, and a reserve list will be maintained for one year for candidates who are deemed suitable but not selected. The organization operates a hybrid working model, allowing for a combination of onsite and remote work, although full-time remote work is not permitted.
