Job Overview:
The Driver position is based in Lagos State at the UNFPA Lagos Liaison Office and reports directly to the Logistics Associate. The primary function of the Driver is to provide reliable and safe driving services for effective program implementation in Lagos State, ensuring the transportation of high-ranking UNFPA officials and visitors. The role requires a strong sense of responsibility, discretion, and integrity, as well as an excellent understanding of protocol and security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security issues. The Driver is expected to demonstrate a client-oriented approach, courtesy, confidentiality, and tact while working with individuals from diverse national and cultural backgrounds. Additionally, the Driver may be called upon to provide driving services to operations and program staff in other Sub Offices, consultants, experts, and UNFPA staff on mission, thereby contributing to the overall success of UNFPA's initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Driver will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including but not limited to: driving the office vehicle for the transportation of authorized personnel; delivering and collecting mail, documents, and other items; meeting official personnel at the airport and facilitating immigration and customs formalities as required; maintaining the assigned vehicle on a day-to-day basis, including checking oil, water, battery, brakes, tyres, and performing minor repairs; ensuring that the vehicle is kept clean and well-maintained, including keeping maintenance-related records; ensuring that all vehicle-related documentation, such as licenses and insurance policies, are acquired and kept up to date; preparing and maintaining vehicle logs for official trips, daily mileage, gas consumption, oil changes, and greasing; ensuring compliance with rules and regulations in case of accidents; reporting any faults detected in UNFPA vehicles to the Logistics Associate; making photocopies of letters, mails, and other official documents as required; distributing mail to staff and other parties involved with UNFPA; maintaining records on travel to facilitate efficient tracking and monitoring; and performing any other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
The ideal candidate for the Driver position should be a Nigerian National (male or female) with a minimum of a secondary school certificate. The candidate must possess a valid professional driving license and a Trade Test Certificate. Additionally, the candidate should demonstrate proficiency in vehicle mechanical operation and have a strong knowledge of driving rules and regulations, chauffeur protocol, local roads and conditions, and defensive driving skills. A minimum of 3 years of professional driving experience with a reputable organization is required, and work history of at least 3 years in the UN system or an international organization is desirable.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess at least a secondary school certificate. A valid professional driving license and a Trade Test Certificate are also required to ensure that the candidate is qualified to operate a vehicle safely and effectively.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of 3 years of professional driving experience with a reputable organization. Experience working within the UN system or an international organization for at least 3 years is considered desirable, as it indicates familiarity with the operational protocols and standards expected in such environments.

Languages:
Fluency in English is required, with a very strong capability to communicate clearly and concisely in both oral and written English. This is essential for effective communication within the organization and with external stakeholders.

Additional Notes:
This position is a full-time role with a fixed-term appointment (FTA) for one year, which is renewable subject to satisfactory performance. The position is non-rotational and is specifically open to Nigerian nationals. The compensation package includes a competitive net salary, health insurance, and other benefits.
