Responsibilities The American Heart Association has an excellent opportunity for a Vice President of Leadership Engagement in the association’s SouthWest region. Location of the selected candidate is flexible within the region (TX, CO, OK, AR, NM, WY. This individual will have a passion for building Strategic Partnerships with volunteer leaders, ensuring positive and mutually rewarding relations. The Vice President will lead the Design and implementation of volunteer strategies, creating, recruiting, stewarding, and Mapping opportunities for our top volunteer relationships and to inspire future volunteers. This individual will work closely with internal and external constituents across the region to ensure a consistent and proactive approach to volunteer engagement. Are you ready to make a difference? Here are some examples of what we’re looking for in this role:
  • Demonstrate ability to create a network of meaningful volunteer and staff partnerships

  • Manage regional councils by developing a recruitment pipeline and strategies to drive results and achieve the mission and strategic objectives of the AHA

  • Manage key regionwide leadership projects and initiatives, working in partnership with volunteer and staff committees and task forces

  • Create initiatives that will result in building a stronger, future-focused culture for the members of the region board and beyond

  • Create career pathing to engage top-level prospects that are responsive to current external and internal needs

  • Assess current External Communications and develop a holistic plan for utilizing communication outlets to drive engagement

  • Ensure that the systems of support for the regions external relationships are embedded throughout the region and used to its fullest capacity for our top strategic volunteer relationships

  • Support the offices of the EVP on board development, alongside the SVP of Development

  • Research and develop pipelines for top level volunteers moving into the region

  • Work alongside the SVP of Development on all Gold Standard Board initiatives

  • Other duties as assigned by supervison

And we do. Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university preferred

  • Eight (8) – Twelve (12) years’ experience in roles of similar focus and capacity

  • 8+ years of experience working with and managing high-level volunteers preferred

  • Digital expertise including Dynamics CRM, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Microsoft Suite

  • Experience in Fundraising and stewardship are a plus

  • Ability to do daily and overnight travel as needed

  • Communication and writing skills

  • Ability to communicate, build relationships, gain trust with a diverse range of people of all ages and backgrounds

  • Ability to communicate strategic direction and provide consultation to volunteer committees and board members

  • Ability to effectively assess and leverage volunteer skillsets and interests, in turn developing and utilizing volunteer roles in meaningful ways

  • Ability to measure and increase engagement and motivation of strategic volunteer relationships

  • Ability to inspire and instill a feeling of belonging

  • Proactively research and develop pipelines for potential future high-level volunteer engagement across the region

  • Demonstrated strategic thinking skills in assessing the local market environment and available resources to successfully implement new and existing programs
