Job Summary: Corus International seeks an experienced, successful proposal writer for competitive proposals to institutional donors, including USAID, USDA, EuropeAid, and Foundations. As a proposal writer, you will work as part of Corus' Business Development and Strategic Partnerships Department to develop high quality, competitive proposals. Duties/Responsibilities: Technical Writing
  • Responsible for completing a high-quality, competitive technical proposal (narrative) incompliance with the donor requirements and LWR standards.

  • Ensures the entire technical proposal is written. This includes writing sections of the proposal and/or assigning sections of the proposals to others.

  • Works closely with the Proposal Technical Design Lead to gather necessary information for the proposal and to understand the design of the project.

  • Compiles all sections into one coherent, final draft with a consistent style and voice.

  • Ensures that pink and red team review comments are addressed.

  • Ensures that the Corporate Capacity Statement and Past Performance References (PPRs) are complete and that they align with the technical design and solicitation.

  • Ensures alignment between the Cost Proposal and Technical Proposal.

  • Responsible for completing a high-quality, competitive technical proposal (narrative) incompliance with the donor requirements and LWR standards.

Positioning and Capture
  • Conduct Desk Research/market assessment research as needed to inform the strategic Analysis of technical proposals.

  • May participate in capture trips/initial technical design sessions with local partners to understand the technical approach.

Business Development Support
  • Build a Library of stock language, templates, and writing methodologies for proposal teams to use.

  • Support Business Development team's use and improvement of CRM systems (Salesforce).

  • Facilitate training sessions for organization staff on proposal writing best practices.

Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Proven track record in proposal writing, as evidenced by client and donor feedback and proposal win rate;

  • Proven ability to work collaboratively, multitask, and be flexible and responsive to quickly changing demands;

  • Experience conducting in-depth interviews with subject matter experts and synthesizing the information into meaningful feedback or prose;

  • Detail-oriented with the ability to work under tight internal and external proposal submission deadlines;

  • Strong communication skills. The ability to work as a culturally aware team player and able to work in an international setting;

  • Ability to write logically, clearly and concisely.

  • Ability to travel, including internationally. Travel may be to countries that are experiencing political instability and have poor infrastructure including poor road conditions, limited amenities and poor housing accommodations.

  • Fluency in English is required. Fluency and professional writing skills in French and/or Spanish is considered a valuable asset. Native or bilingual proficiency in French and/or Spanish should be indicated in your resume.

Education and Experience:
  • At least 5 years of proposal writing experience in the development sector

Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

Work authorization:
  • U.S. citizenship or a valid U.S. work permit is an absolute requirement.
