POST CONTEXT NATO Signal Battalion provides communication and Information System facilities and services for deployed Nato Headquarters. Command Group provides the administrative support for C2 of the NSB HQ. The incumbent is part of the Supply Cell, which plans and coordinates the supply activities of all NSB’s elements. The Staff Assistant (Ground Logistics) serves as the primary POC for the Coordination and logistics functions within the Battalion. The incumbent reports to the Cell Head, (Logistics and Supply). 2. DUTIES The Staff Assistant (Ground Logistics) duties and responsibilities are: 1. Responsible for the co-ordination of logistics functions in accordance with ACE and Bn Directives. 2. Responsible for developing transportation loadlists, deployed equipment inventories, and report of survey documents. 3. Provides supply Technical Assistance and supply on the job training to other supply specialists and subordinates. 4. Assists the SRSC Logistics Branch Budget Specialist in developing annual budgets for communications electronic property procurement, consumables, estimated annual deployment cost and consumable budget requests. 5. Manages repair parts requisitions and consumable requisitions status reports. 6. Manages equipment maintenance request (EMR’s). Prepares and presents weekly EMR status reports for the Commander. 7. Manages and supervise the logistics support section, developing operating instructions identifying the procedures for deployment and logistic support while in a deployed environment. Under routine circumstances, the job is performed in a typical office environment where the risk of injury is categorized as “none”. However, The Staff Assistant (Ground Logistics) may be required to undertake deployments in support of military operations and exercises, and/or short-term travel assignments, both within and outside of NATO boundaries. Such operational deployment may exceed 30 days in any period of 547 days, and may be on short notice. Acceptance of an employment contract linked to this post constitutes agreement to deploy in excess of 30 days, if required. 3. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE ESSENTIAL Secondary education and basic training in logistics, transport or related discipline for specific task-related skills, with two years of experience. Experience with, and knowledge of all facets of transportation related to the planning, operation, coordination and evaluation of all methods of transportation, including multi-modal systems, both in a static peace headquarters, and a deployed capacity. Experience with transportation personnel life cycle functions and multi-functional logistical support systems, equipment and operations. Must have an English Standard Language Proficiency level of “functional” in Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing (SLP 2222 based on NATO standards). DESIRABLE Extensive experience in Supply Management for communications logistical support of mobile land units. (Logistics-qualified) Full C and E (Heavy Goods with Towed Heavy Trailer) Driver License upon arrival/ ability to drive military standard – shift vehicles. NATO Course: NDSS. 4. POSITION AND CANDIDATE PROFILE Personal attributes The incumbent must be able to organize own workload and shift priorities in line with changing circumstances. He/she must possess good interpersonal and communication skills, as he/she often works independently, specifically in matters relating to supply. Uses initiative to propose solution for unexpected problems and determines which issues to refer to supervisor. Uses independent judgment to propose solutions based on resources available and in accordance with policies and directives. Managerial Responsibilities There is no first-line reporting responsibility Professional contacts Routinely interrelates within the NATO Signal Battalion and Logistic Support and Supply specialists, as well as DCMs and M&S Company. Contribution to the objectives The position directly involves the Logistic Support and Supply which affects the NSBs’ mission accomplishment both in a static peace headquarters and a deployed capacity. 5. REMARKS: The candidate may be required to perform like duties elsewhere within the organization, as directed. 6. CONTRACT The successful candidate will receive a three-year definite duration contract which may be followed by an indefinite duration contract. The basic entry-level monthly salary for a NATO Grade B-3 in Italy is Euro 3,230.48 which may be augmented by allowances based on the selected staff member’s eligibility, and which is subject to the withholding of approximately 20% for pension and medical insurance contributions. 7.
