Responsibilities Director" id="link" class="link">Senior Director, Community Impact Based exclusively in Austin, DFW or Houston, TX Job Description The American Heart Association (AHA) has an excellent opportunity for a Senior Director of Community Impact to develop and lead strategic relationships and serve as a consultant, strategist, and resource to communities across Texas. Job Description:
  • The Senior Director will manage, direct, and apply account management approach to develop and implement a customized, strategic, statewide plan for impact in Texas. S/he will work in collaboration with cross-functional community-based teams to build strong volunteer relationships, collective impact plans and to support heart healthy resources in the community.

  • The Senior Director will work directly with assigned staff to coach and train them as part of onboarding to the AHA and/or into new positions within the AHA. S/he will create and maintain a professional work environment that fosters and values collaboration, trust teamwork, empowerment, professionalism and diversity.

  • The Senior Director will support staff and market teams across the state by providing technical assistance in Fund Development, Collective Impact, Workplace Health Solutions, Gold Standard Board, Outpatient Quality Improvement for Blood Pressure, Diabetes & Cholesterol, as well as other programmatic areas. S/he will be a subject-matter expert and part of Strategic Planning, building training plans, tracking progress, and providing detailed consultation to staff and volunteers as needed.

And we do. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university

  • Five+ years experience developing community led programs, projects or events

  • Five+ years experience engaging, motivating and retaining volunteer leaders

  • Three (3) years of experience in strategic planning and plan execution

  • Demonstrated strategic thinking skills in assessment of environments and available resources

  • Knowledge of the social determinants of health and behavior modification through self-care activities and policy/system-wide changes

  • Demonstrated ability to manage large projects and events ensuring deadline complianceDemonstrated ability to productively participate in a multi-disciplinary team environment working towards common goals with internal and external clients

  • Ability to influence team members without supervisory authority

  • Self-motivated, highly effective organization and analytical skills, multi-tasking, communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills

  • Intermediate knowledge and skill with Microsoft Office for word processing, email, presentations, and spreadsheets

  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 30% outside the market

  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master of Public Health

  • Three+ years experience in healthcare systems change or improvement

  • Three+ years experience in community health and population benefit education

  • Three+ years experience in Fundraising or Business Development

  • Experience working with multicultural and underserved communities

  • Comprehensive knowledge of AHA mission programs
