For more information on MSI, please visit our website at Project Summary: The purpose of this GISR-supported Activity is to explore more effective and integrated approaches to aiding survivors and victims of gender-based violence (GBV), through assessments of current activities, the Design of pilot projects testing improved interventions, and learning, sharing, and “scaling up” of promising approaches. Activities are focused on communities in the Ninewa Plains. **Please note: Only Iraqi citizens are eligible for this position Position Summary: The Senior Technical GBV Advisor will work closely with MSI's NGO partners in Sheikhan and Tel Uskof to ensure quality and timely implementation of pilot programs. The Advisor will provide ongoing programmatic Technical Support on a negotiation and MHPSS pilot program, working with MSI staff and consultant advisors. They will ensure that programs meet quality standards and adheres to Do No Harm principles, and will follow up with partners on reporting, invoicing and deliverables. This position will provide STTA coverage for staff maternity leave. Responsibilities:
  • Support NGO partners on GBV service Mapping and needs assessments if required

  • Responsible as focal point for a negotiation pilot and MHPSS pilot, working closely with two local NGO partners

  • Support partners with pilot implementation through regular check-ins and remote meetings during Covid-19 restrictions on movement

  • Provide input and feedback on program activities

  • Schedule regular learning meetings with partners, document learnings regularly, contribute to pilot learning briefs

  • Gather monthly reports from partners

  • Review and request additional report information if needed and revise reports to submit to the designated person to meet reporting deadlines

  • Follow up with partners to request monthly invoices, review invoices and deliverables, and submit for payment

  • Contribute to monitoring and reporting to ensure partners and MSI program staff use required M&E tools

  • Contribute to M&E reporting for quarterly reporting

  • Arrange for or deliver Capacity Building to sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV) service provider staff if required, including individualized coaching on case management services

  • PhD or MA in gender studies, social work or other social sciences, community

health, International Law, Human Rights or related fields, required
  • Minimum three years of experience implementing integrated and holistic SGBV programs in humanitarian/ post-conflict settings preferred

  • Previous experience working with, and/or demonstrated understanding of ethnic and

religious minority communities in Iraq
  • Awareness and demonstrable knowledge of long-standing and conflict-related drivers of

SGBV in Iraq, particularly Nineveh
  • Exceptional diplomacy in engaging with diverse communities and stakeholders and obtaining buy-in and commitment to support program objectives

  • Demonstrable knowledge of protection issues in complex humanitarian environments,

particularly post-conflict settings
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Ability to work remotely using online platforms for meetings, trainings and other interactions with staff and partners

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and verbal fluency in Arabic
