UNDP Jordan's 2018-2022 country programme seeks to support national efforts in reaching a solution pathway that achieves the goal of a more inclusive and resilient nation which can effectively address the development challenges it is faced with, through its five programme pillars. Among these pillars is the Environment, Climate Change and DRR Portfolio that assist the country to integrate environmental concerns into national and sectoral plans and strategies; secure resources; and implement programmes that advance inclusive, sustainable development, and strengthen livelihoods. The Environment, Climate Change and DRR Portfolio’s support for Environmental Management and nationally-owned sustainable development pathways includes the following areas: Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services; Sustainable Land Management and Desertification; Water and Marine Governance; Climate Change and Drought; Energy; Waste Management; Green Economy; and Disaster Risks Reduction. In 2019, UNDP Jordan under its environment portfolio has commenced several projects to support Jordan boosting innovation to achieve sustainable development and deliver the global environmental benefits. Among these are the “Preparation of the Fourth National Communication (4NC) and of the Second Biennial Updated Report (2BUR) to the UNFCCC” project, the “Promoting Nature-based Solutions for Building Resilience of Water Resources in Jordan to Drought Adaptation” project and the “Improving livelihoods of Sheep owners in the Jordan Badia through Enhancing Sheep Wool Saleability and Profitability” project. As the “Improving livelihoods of Sheep owners in the Jordan Badia through Enhancing Sheep Wool Saleability and Profitability” project requires frequent field work across the three Badia regions in Jordan, UNDP seeks to recruit senior driver to provide reliable and safe driving services to the staff enrolled under the projects of Environment, Climate Change and DRR Portfolio. Key Results and Impact
  • Overall, the senior driver is expected to ensure highest standards of discretion and integrity, sense of responsibility, excellent knowledge of protocol and security issues. The driver also demonstrates a client-oriented approach, courtesy, tact and ability to work with people of different national and cultural backgrounds.

  • The driver is expected to be responsible for ensuring safe transport for UNDP staff and guests in accordance with the program and projects requirements.

  • The senior driver is expected to provide support to logistics and Administration functions.

The senior driver is expected to provide support to logistics and administration functions. Duties and Responsibilities
  • Ensures provision of reliable and safe driving services by driving office vehicles for the transport of UNDP staff and visitors related to the Environment, Climate Change and DRR Portfolio and delivery and collection of mail, documents and other items.

  • Ensures cost-savings through proper use of vehicle through accurate maintenance of daily vehicle logs, provision of inputs to preparation of the vehicle maintenance plans and reports.

  • Ensures proper day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicle through timely minor repairs, arrangements for major repairs, timely changes of oil, check of tires, brakes, car washing, etc.

  • Ensures availability of all the required documents/supplies including vehicle insurance, vehicle logs,

  • Office directory, map of the city/country, first aid kit, and necessary spare parts in the assigned vehicle.

  • Ensures that all immediate actions required by rules and regulations are taken in case of involvement in accidents.

  • Undertake any other duties as necessary.
