FULL-TIME JOB VACANCY Senior Coordinator Development and Outreach Department Amsterdam Office Application Deadline: 1 September 2020 The Development and Outreach Department of Human Rights Watch (“HRW”) are seeking a highly motivated candidate to provide support to our Fundraising and outreach in the Netherlands. The Development and Outreach Department is led by the Deputy Director" id="link" class="link">Executive Director (DED) of Development and Global Initiatives and handles the fundraising and outreach activities of Human Rights Watch. The Senior Coordinator reports to the Netherlands Director, based in Amsterdam. Due to Covid-19, our Amsterdam office is open but has limited capacity and remote working arrangements will remain an option for the foreseeable future. The successful candidate will ideally begin work in mid-to-late October, pending any required resignation periods. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Assist in the production of fundraising, outreach and cultivation events in the Netherlands, including HRW's annual Voices for Justice dinner, researcher briefings, advocacy and cultivation events; 2. Assist the Netherlands Director on all aspects of event logistics, strategy and follow-up; 3. Work in partnership with the Brand Team to manage the marketing and branding elements related to all printed materials and marketing merchandise; 4. Assist with various aspects of the Amsterdam Committee including quarterly meetings, monthly calls, and an annual retreat; 5. Oversee communications with constituents via phone, mail and electronic media; 6. Create and track guest lists, donor lists, fundraising, and expenses for all events; 7. Assist with donor research and profiles and manage donor Data Entry; 8. Assist with membership support services for the Amsterdam office including mailings, gift tracking, gift processing and acknowledgments, using HRW's database; 9. Coordinating public programs and outreach, forming relationships with partner organizations, and identifying new opportunities; 10. Deliver outputs in a timely manner and be consistent with the agreed strategy and priorities of the Development Department; 11. Advertise, recruit, train and coordinate the work of interns; and 12. Perform other responsibilities as may be required. QUALIFICATIONS: Education: A bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, social sciences, or related studies is required. Experience: A minimum of two to three years of fundraising experience is required. Related Skills and Knowledge: 1. Experience coordinating events, preferably large-scale events, is required. 2. Creativity, initiative, follow-through and excellent organizational skills are required. 3. Excellent oral and written communications skills in English and Dutch are required. 4. Strong interpersonal skills in order to work collaboratively within HRW as well as with local partners, government officials and external media partners are required. 5. Ability to multi-task effectively, including having good planning and organizing skills and ability to work under pressure are required. 6. Demonstrated commitment to human rights and/or international issues and the capacity to master and represent the mission and programs of HRW is essential. 7. Strong technology skills, including experience with donor databases and knowledge of social media are highly desirable. 8. An entrepreneurial spirit and the discipline to work independently, but also the ability to function as a member of a development team is highly desirable. Note: Occasional night/evening work will be required in the future once in-person fundraising events resume. Other: Applicants for this position must possess current EU work authorization.
