The Refugee Social Services – Social Adjustment Services (RSS-SAS) program addresses the case management needs of refugees, asylees, and special immigrant visa holders (SIVs) who are experiencing barriers to self-sufficiency in the United States. Individuals may receive services for the following needs: medical, Emergency/crisis, federal and state assistance programs (Medicaid, SNAP, etc.), orientation and cultural adjustment. Populations served may include but are not limited to: individuals with medical challenges, individuals with Mental Health needs, single parents, LGBTQ+-identifying individuals interested in case Management Support, survivors of torture or trauma, and elderly individuals. The RSS-SAS Caseworker is responsible for enrolling new clients and providing case management and referral services to vulnerable refugees, asylees, and SIVs. The position assists clients with navigating local services and maintaining stability in the areas of housing, finances, and safety. The RSS-SAS Caseworker also works to maintain strong partnerships with local service providers to ensure strong referral processes for clients. The RSS-SAS Caseworker manages a caseload with the support of interns and/or volunteers. The RSS-SAS Caseworker supports clients in following specific service plans and is in regular contact during their service period. Major Responsibilities: Case Management and Referrals:
  • Provide case Management Services for vulnerable refugees, asylees, and SIVs to help them feel safe, empowered, and stable.

  • Complete client intakes, including orientation to services, assessment of client needs, and development of service plans.

  • Assist clients with referrals to appropriate resources including physical and mental Health Services, public benefits, transportation, low-income housing, social and community support, Legal Services, food access, childcare resources, etc.

  • Balance services to high-needs clients with those who have less intensive needs fairly and consistently.

  • Manage Intern and volunteer tasks in support of client services.Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain excellent case file quality by ensuring complete and timely documentation of enrollments, orientations, and case notes.

  • Monitor and track service delivery to ensure compliance with program guidelines.

  • Assist with completion of reports as required by IRC, funders and/or donors.

  • Comply with and remain up-to date on all policies, procedures and best practices of the agency.

  • Other related duties as assigned.

  • Undergraduate degree with an emphasis in social work or an equivalent field of study preferred.

  • Approximately 1 year of related experience in social service, case management, human services or related fields.

  • A demonstrated understanding of the unique needs of immigrants and refugees.

  • Working knowledge of social services, public benefits, community organizations, health care systems, and related human services in the Dallas area preferred.

  • Self-directed with excellent problem-solving and time-management skills. Ability to multitask, organize, and prioritize duties.

  • Ability to balance direct client services with documentation and other compliance measures.

  • Fluency in written and spoken English required; fluency in one of the languages of the client base is preferred.

  • A valid driver’s license, reliable access to an insured vehicle, and ability to transport clients regularly.

Working Environment*:*
  • Standard office environment combined with local travel within the service delivery area.

  • Occasional evening and weekend hours required.
