Job Description

We are looking for UN volunteers (UNVs) from any part of the world who have deep connections in China, that can use various online means to assist us in mobilizing Chinese citizens to sign up to China-Africa Peace Initiative (CAPI), an initiative aimed at resolving the rising tensions between Africa and China related to the handling of Coronavirus. The UNVs will use the Social Media space in China and also explore various options to help us recruit Chinese citizens who will, among other actions, make short friendship videos that will be collected by PASDO for an all out publicity in Nigeria and other African nations. This is in order to help calm the rising hatred for China, reduce the possibility of reprisal attacks by Africans and help safeguard the lives, properties and businesses of Chinese citizens living in Africa. Before applying, interested applicants should ensure to read further information and create a profile at https://www.pasdo.org/china-africa-peace-initiative/#vl Community organizing Community and civil society development In a bid to tackle the second wave of the Coronavirus infections, reported to consist majorly of imported cases, Chinese local authorities (especially) in the Guangdong province, used measures that unfairly targeted and maltreated black people from Nigeria, Ghana, Mali and other African countries. Video footage of such ill treatments quickly spread in Africa via social media, sparking outrage and deepening the hatred for China among some Africans who, before then, already had the mindset that China was responsible for the economic hardship and crushing hunger that they face due to Covid-19 lock-down. This development has put at risk the lives of the over 1 million Chinese citizens thought to live in Africa, including their businesses, properties and the hard earned friendship forged between Africa and China over several decades. To douse tension and save the situation, PASDO launched CAPI as a means through which well meaning Chinese can send some warmth and love to Africa.
