We are currently recruiting for the position of: Qualitative Impact Measurement Intern Within the Impact Measurement & Knowledge team Duration of 5 months (starting in February 2020) 28-32 hours per week, based in Oxfam Novib’s The Hague office Main purpose of this Internship Position The main purpose of this internship is to analyze qualitative data that has been collected as part of the impact studies carried out by the Impact Measurement and Knowledge Team, bringing findings from different studies together and to communicate key findings in an accessible manner. The Analysis and communication will have a focus on a specific theme (e.g. Violence Against Women; livelihood improvement; social accountability mechanisms; reducing youth unemployment etc.). Together we will determine the focus, based on the information sought by the projects and campaigns supported by Oxfam and by your interests and competencies. You will be member of a dynamic team of researchers and working closely with one mentor from within the team. Through this internship, you will further develop your knowledge and skills on qualitative applied research and gain hands-on experience through the following tasks: · Review of relevant academic & practitioners’ literature · Design of theoretical and analytical frameworks · Support in distant monitoring of Data Collection · Analysis of qualitative data (i.e. transcripts of one-on-one interviews and/or focus group discussions, in English and/or French) · Presenting research findings, by drafting PPT slides and report paragraphs · Preparing a knowledge product, focusing on communicating research findings to a specific audience · Towards the end of the internship, make an internal presentation at the office on the outcomes of their work. Essential skills · Master’s degree level of studies · Solid knowledge of methods of qualitative Data Analysis and experience in analyzing qualitative data · Excellent English language skills · Very good academic and journalistic writing skills · Strong analytical skills · You are a result-oriented team-player · Good command of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Power Point, Excel and Word) · You are a self-starter who can work independently, while keeping others informed of what you are working on or need support for · Very good organizational skills and ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously Desirable skills · Experience producing communication materials such as leaflets, infographics, etc. · Experience with website (Wordpress) management and Adobe Creative Cloud apps · Good reading & writing skills in French · A good understanding of the work of Oxfam. Experience in and/or knowledge of one or more of Oxfam’s key programme areas is an asset (land, food and water; conflict transformation and governance; gender and youth; citizen participation, tax and budgets) · Previous work or internship experience Our offer Oxfam Novib Academy internships include a small financial allowance (€250,- gross based on a 36-hour work week) and a commuting allowance.
