The overall aim of the IFRC is” to inspire, encourage, facilitate, and promote at all times all forms of humanitarian activities by National Societies with a view to preventing and alleviating human suffering and thereby contributing to the maintenance and promotion of human dignity and peace in the world.” It works to meet the needs and improve the lives of vulnerable people before, during and after disasters, Health Emergencies and other crises. The Federation is served by a Secretariat based in Geneva, with regional and country offices throughout the world. The Secretariat is led by the IFRC Secretary General and provides the central capacity of the International Federation to serve, connect, and represent National Societies. The Secretariat’s focus includes providing support to the IFRC governance mechanisms; setting norms and standards; providing guidance; ensuring consistency; Coordination and accountability for performance; Knowledge Sharing; promoting collaboration within and respect for the RCRC Movement; and expanding engagement with partners. The Secretariat’s headquarters is organized in three main business groups: (i) Partnerships, including Movement and Membership; (ii) Programs and Operations; and (iii) Management. The Secretariat has five regional office, as follows: Americas (Panama City); Africa (Nairobi); Asia/Pacific (Kuala Lumpur); Europe (Budapest); Middle East and North Africa (Beirut). This position is based in Beira, province of Sofala, Mozambique to support the CVM PSS program in the city and other locations in the province of Sofala, in the implementation of the Skills for life program, psycho-education awareness sessions, PSS training and other activities implemented by the CVM and IFRC. Job Purpose Support the implementation of the PSS activities in the city of Beira, in particular the “skills for life program”and other activities in relation with the implementation of the PSS programs in Beira and in the rest of the Province. Job Duties and Responsibilities Under the supervision of the CVM PSS provincial technique she will assist her/him in the management of the PSS programs in the province in particular:
  • Support in the Management of the PSS activities developed by volunteers in the province and in particular in the skills for life program developed in the PGI program;

  • Responsible of the enrollment of the participants, control of attendance, provision of information, and all details in relation with participating in the activity;

  • Responsible of collecting the data of activities and provide to the line manager on time and keep all means of verification;

  • Constantly assess necessities for the Skill for life program;

  • Control attendance of volunteers, support them and motivate in their activities;

  • Support organize and Provide training on PSS topics and ensure a high quality of the services offered;

  • Constantly assess necessities in terms of PSS activities;

  • Mapping referral pathway and ensure case management of the cases identified;

  • Support and motivate volunteers in their activities;

  • Maintain a good relationship with the community and its leaders;

  • Responsible for the material of the PSS activities and requisite additional material if required;

  • Communicate with CVM PSS technique, volunteer managers, CVM, Logistics on problems and challenges;

  • Provide and Supervise the awareness sessions on MHPSS;

  • Support PSS assessment of new intervention areas;

  • Liaise with the MHPSS specialized services in health centres;

  • Support the PSS technique in any other activity related to PSS or in relation with PSS Objectives.

  • Actively work towards the achievement of the Federation Secretariat’s goals;

  • Abide by and work in accordance with the Red Cross and Red Crescent principles;

  • Perform any other work-related duties and responsibilities that may be assigned by the line manager.

  • University school degree;

  • IFRC course on PSS;

  • IFRC course on PSS ToT.

  • Working or volunteering experience with CVM and / or IFRC;

  • 1 year of experience;

  • First-hand experience with PSS activities;

  • Leadership experience;

  • In-country contextual understanding and operational experience;

  • Experience in providing training.

  • Fluently spoken Portuguese;

  • Other languages: preferably other local languages in Sofala.
