Job Description

The IDB Group (IDBG) includes the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB or Bank), IDB Invest, and IDB Lab. Established in 1959, the IDB is the main source of financing for economic, social and institutional development in Latin America and the Caribbean. It provides loans, grants, guarantees, policy advice and technical assistance to the public and private sectors of its borrowing countries.
The IDB is seeking to fill one Oversight Audit and Compliance Specialist/ Senior Associate position to work in the Office of the Executive Auditor (AUG) in Headquarters (Washington, D.C.). The Specialist/Senior Associate will report to a Principal Auditor. AUG reports to the President and to the IDBG Audit Committees.

What you’ll do:

  • Contribute to the preparation of the risk-based audit plans, under the coordination of the AUG Management Team;


  • Analyze and assess IDBG processes to identify key risks and opportunities inherent to the area under review, taking into consideration the strategic priorities of the organizations and the underlying technology;


  • Conduct interviews and walkthroughs of the processes under review and prepare flowcharts to support the planning and fieldwork of engagements;


  • Assess the suitability, effectiveness and efficiency of internal controls currently in place to manage identified risks, including those associated with the integrity of information;


  • Perform data analytics to support the planning and fieldwork and provide meaningful insights/compelling evidence to support audit observations and conclusions.


  • Prepare internal audit and advisory reports in a clear, concise and timely manner,


  • Present and communicate results of work performed to all levels of the IDBG;


  • Negotiate the development of effective management action plans to address issues raised during reviews;


  • Demonstrate solid project management skills, proposing solutions to increase team productivity;


  • Strong written and oral communication skills in English and Spanish, and ability to synthesize analyses and present materials effectively and tailored to different audiences;


  • Work independently, with minimal supervision as part of a team.


What you’ll need:
Citizenship: You are a citizen of one of our 48-member countries. We may offer assistance with relocation and visa applications for you and your eligible dependents.

Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB Group.

Education: Master's degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, or other related fields including program development, monitoring, business analysis, etc. Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) and/or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) may be considered in lieu of a master’s degree.

Experience:

  • Specialist. Minimum of eight (8) years of relevant professional experience in one or more of the following: auditing, risk management, loan portfolio management or business process improvement in international organizations. Minimum of three (3) years of experience working within private sector operations in international organizations.

  • Senior Associate. Minimum of six (6) years of relevant professional experience in one or more of the following: auditing, risk management, loan portfolio management or business process improvement in international organizations. Minimum of two (2) years of experience working within private sector operations in international organizations.

Languages: Proficiency in English and Spanish is required. Knowledge of Portuguese and/or French is desirable.
