FHI 360 has an exciting opportunity for an Intern interested in joining our Kosovo ASSET team and growing their skills in the global education sector.

Project Description:

USAID’s “After School Support for Teens” Program (ASSET) is a 5-year USAID program, managed by Kosova Education Centre (KEC), in partnership with FHI 360 and Crimson Capital Corp. ASSET’s main aim is to develop employability and entrepreneurial skills in Youth and a positive attitude to their future. ASSET supports the implementation of Kosovo’s Curriculum Framework and Core Curriculum for Grades 10-12, in particularly by providing support relating to the area of “Life and Work” which involves: career counselling and orientation; technology including ICT, and work and entrepreneurial education.

Job Summary:

Under the supervision and mentorship of the Senior Technical Advisor, the intern will have the opportunity to learn about how a global education project operates and adapts, particularly in the context of Covid-19. The intern will provide programmatic support to the project, with the following responsibilities:
  • Organize and participate in team meetings and country calls.

  • Work collaboratively with the project’s M&E advisor to support Data Collection and Analysis through focus group interviews and other methods.

  • Contribute to the development and facilitation of teacher professional development workshops and student-centered trainings.

  • Design, implement, and coordinate specific program activities as assigned by supervisor.

  • Participate in regular Global Education Department meetings, strategic planning, and Business Development activities.

Job Summary/Responsibilities::

Under the supervision and mentorship of the Senior Technical Advisor, the intern will have the opportunity to learn about how a global education project operates and adapts, particularly in the context of COVID-19. The intern will provide programmatic support to the project, with the following responsibilities:
  • Conducts searches of published literature and other sources on evolving issues related to careers awareness & mentorship, youth and Entrepreneurship, 21st century skill development, and makerspaces in education.

  • Writes and edits technical reports and documents.

  • Develops publications, blogs, and presentations of relevance.

  • Organize and participate in team meetings and country calls.

  • Work collaboratively with the project’s M&E advisor to support data collection and analysis through focus group interviews and other methods.

  • Contribute to the development and facilitation of teacher professional development workshops and student-centered trainings.

  • Participate in regular Global Education Department meetings, strategic planning, and business development activities.

  • Responds to requests and inquiries from internal and external staff.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Applied Knowledge & Skills:

  • Working knowledge of international educational development programming concepts, practices and procedures..

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills.

  • Demonstrated proficiency with using Microsoft Office Suite required.

  • Ability to analyze and interpret data, identify errors and prepare reports.

  • Ability to problem solve and implements corrective action as needed.

Supervision Received:

  • Receives mentorship from Senior Technical Advisor and other Global Education experts related to implementing international development programs.

  • Contributes to departmental functions to achieve goals and acquire work experience.

  • Receives general instructions on routine work, detailed instructions on new assignments or projects.

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree or its International Equivalent • Economics, Education, Environment, Health, Human Development, Information Science, International Development, Social Sciences or Related Field.

  • Masters in Education preferred.

Experience:

  • Masters student currently enrolled in a graduate program with at least 1 year of work experience in international education preferred.

  • Experience teaching and working with secondary-age Youth.

  • Experience designing, conducting, and facilitating Teacher Professional Development workshops.

  • Experience developing curriculum & materials as well as administering assessments aligned with national learning standards.

  • Experience leveraging online learning tools and platforms to enhance instruction.

  • Has sensitivity to cultural diversity and understanding of the political, contextual, and ethical issues in assigned areas. Familiarity with predominantly Muslim country contexts preferred.

  • Articulate and professional and able to communicate in a clear, positive fashion with clients and staff.

  • Must be able to read, write, and speak fluent English.

Technology to be Used:

  • Personal Computer, Microsoft Office (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.), e-mail, telephone.
