Interim Head of People Operations

Location: Paisley

Contract type: Fixed Term Contract until December 2020

Hours per week: 35

Salary: Circa £60,000 pro rata per annum


We are seeking a charismatic leader to take charge of our People Services for staff and volunteers including Resourcing, Casework Advice and Support as well transactional HR delivery across the British Red Cross.

What you will be doing

Contributing to the wider leadership team and for driving forward elements of the People Strategy, as Head of People Operations you will be responsible for the delivery of our HR operations on behalf of the People Directorate.

Leading an effective, business-focussed services for managers, staff and volunteers, you will ensure legal requirements and policies are consistently applied, risk is mitigated, and delivery is measured against agreed standards and targets.

You will also be responsible for the development of associated processes and systems, collaborating closely with internal partners and stakeholders to deliver improvement.

What we are looking for

You will be a charismatic and recognised leader with a HR related degree, CIPD Level 7 or equivalent by experience, you will also have:

  • Senior HR leadership experience in a large, complex organisation

  • Substantial experience of leading, supervising and developing a multi-disciplinary team.

  • Extensive experience of leading a multi-disciplinary HR Operations team

  • An understanding of Project Management methodology and approaches

  • Knowledge of HR systems and databases

  • Excellent and up-to-date awareness of HR legal developments and changes

  • Excellent awareness of external regulatory requirements for compliant HR delivery
