Job Description

 

We are looking for a consultant to join the Advisory Services Team to support the goal of the Canadian Climate Fund for the Private Sector in the Americas under the supervision of the Gender, Diversity and Inclusion Head. The Canadian Climate Fund for the Private Sector in the Americas aims at supporting climate change transactions while having at least 40% of their operations having a gender or diversity component.

We focus on the inclusion of underrepresented groups such as, but not limited to, gender, indigenous and traditional people, people with disabilities, as well as Afro-descendants

The Team: The Investment Operations Department of IDB Invest is responsible for generating a portfolio of high quality, creditworthy, and environmentally and socially sound projects that result in significant development impact. The business cycle goes from the identification, selection, origination and execution of transactions to their monitoring. The Department follows a matrix model, with three Segment Divisions covering Infrastructure and Energy, Financial Institutions and Corporates, and three transversal areas such as the Financial Products and Services Division, the Advisory Services Team and the Portfolio Management Division.

The Advisory Services Team works closely with the Department’s divisions to prepare impactful projects, mainstreaming sustainability considerations, supporting champions in specific sectors through knowledge products and outreach activities and influencing the market through publications, conferences and other activities.

What you’ll do: Under the supervision of the Gender, Diversity and Inclusion Head, the consultant’s main functions and responsibilities include:

  • Create client strategies around diversity and inclusion by focusing on their talent, market and value chain (see IDB Invest strategy).

  • Implementation and monitoring of their D&I programs.

  • Ensure the delivery of training/workshops programs for clients in the relevant topics.

  • Consult with senior leadership teams to support local implementation and delivery, when required.

  • Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to amplify the work of gender, diversity and inclusion.

  • Draw upon internal and external D&I data and insights to implement targeted initiatives that support clientele business strategy.

  • Support team reporting efforts (donors reports, matrix results).

  • Create knowledge products on relevant topics.

  • Research on gender/diversity/climate topics to draw best practices and create programs that target both goals (climate change and inclusion).

  • Collaborate closely with the Communications team to amplify IDB Invest’s diversity and inclusion effort in partnership with the Canadian Climate Fund for the Private Sector in the Americas.

What you’ll need:

Education: Master’s, MBA, or equivalent in Finance, International Development, Human Resources, Communications, Business Administration, Engineering, and/or others relevant field.

Experience: At least five (5) years of professional experience in similar positions whether in the private sector and/or development organizations. Understanding of client needs and challenges, market idiosyncrasies, and drivers of change in Latin America and the Caribbean shall be highly valued.

Languages: Proficiency in written and spoken in Spanish and English is required and a good command of French is welcome but not necessary
