Post Electrical & Functional AIT Engineer This post is classified A2-A4 on the Coordinated Organisations’ salary scale. Location ESTEC, Noordwijk, The Netherlands Description As Electrical & Functional AIT Engineer for the Euclid Project, you will be assigned as integrated support. You will report functionally to the Euclid AIV & Launcher Campaign Manager, but will also work closely with other members of the Euclid team and in particular with the Operations Manager and the Spacecraft Engineering Manager. Close interaction is expected with the Euclid Mission & Payload teams, the Euclid Operations team, the related Industrial teams, the Test Directors and the Product Assurance & Safety team. Euclid is the second medium size mission under the Agency’s Cosmic Vision Science Programme and will map the dark Universe through a combination of Visible and NIR imaging and spectroscopic galaxy surveys. The Project Development is now in advanced Phase D, where all the flight units have been procured, and integration and testing is in progress. Duties You will be part of the Ground Software Systems & Functional Verification Section in the Directorate of Technology, Engineering & Quality. This Section provides expert support in the area of Electrical and Functional AIT to most programmes of the Agency. You will be initially assigned to Euclid where you will be responsible for activities related to electrical and functional testing and for verification of the Euclid spacecraft, Avionic Models (AVMs), Service Module (SVM) and Payload Module (PLM). You will support the definition, organisation and execution of associated test and verification campaigns. Duties include: • following the integration and test campaigns in person at the contractor site • supporting the launch campaign • defining and coordinating test plans, test cases and test procedures for functional testing at spacecraft, SVM and PLM level • supporting the planning of associated test campaigns in accordance with the System Integration and Verification Plan • supporting the Coordination and execution of integration, test, launch campaign and related reviews • following up on the closure of system NCRs resulting from tests in coordination with the Product Assurance team • ensuring proper implementation of verification information (reviews, test results, engineering assessments, NCRs, etc.) in the system VCDs • ensuring traceability between the system Design documentation and the system verification documentation • regularly participating in meetings with the TEC parent section, contributing to the dissemination of results of activities performed and knowledge transfer across and outside the Agency in accordance with management approval. Technical competencies General background and specific experience in the technical domains covered by the position Solid experience in spacecraft integration, verification and test activities Knowledge of ESA and industrial development and verification processes Space system development and design Experience with space engineering, PA Standards their implementation and verification Behavioural competencies Teamwork Communication Results Orientation Problem Solving Planning & Organisation Responsible Decision-Making Education A Master's degree in engineering or physics is required. Additional requirements Since most of the activities relevant to this post will take place abroad, you should be prepared to travel on a regular basis and be co-located for extended periods.
