Job Description

Develop content for the civil society page on Spotlightinitiative.org: As an SDG Model Fund, Spotlight Initiative is forging a new way of partnering with civil society that is transparent, equal and inclusive. The Initiative deliver 30-50% of its programme costs through Civil Society Organizations, in particular through feminist/women's rights and women-led organizations at national and local levels. Full transparency of where funding is invested is a prioritized request from civil society that the Spotlight Secretariat has committed to deliver by 2020. The website will include an Analysis of the funding invested in civil society partners during 2019, with graphic visuals and tables, clearly showcasing invested funds and who the selected partners are globally. The Volunteer will collect partner data from 13 Annual Programme Reports. The Volunteer will be reporting to the Secretariat's Civil Society Technical Officer. Writing and editing Information Technology and telecommunications The Spotlight Initiative is a global partnership between the EU and the UN to eliminate all forms of violence against women and girls (VAWG). Backed by a financial investment of EUR 500 million, the Initiative operates in five regions and responds to all forms of VAWG, with a particular thematic focus by region. The Initiative follows a Human Rights-based approach and takes into consideration the specific needs of women and girls who experience multiple and intersecting forms of discrimination to uphold the principle of LNOB. The Initiative’s work is rooted in the belief that the leadership and deep engagement of civil society, in particular women’s rights and feminist activists, networks and movements, is at the core of transformative and Sustainable change in EVAWG. Civil society is thus a key partner that is engaged and represented at all levels of the Initiative. The objective of this position is to amplify and bring light to the partnership with civil society online. Under the direct supervision of the Secretariat’s Civil Society Technical Officer, the Online Volunteer will provide support to the development and Design of the civil society website page. Volunteers: 1 needed 11-20 hours per week / 12 weeks • Volunteer must have a very strong command of English as this task requires strong mastery of the language. Knowledge in French or Spanish is an asset. • Strong writing and editing skills are required. • Familiarity with technical terms related to ending violence against women and girls will be considered an advantage. • Master’s level degree or equivalent in Social Sciences, gender studies, Political Science, Law or related fields.
