The Opportunity Save the Children is looking for a Coordination Specialist (RRT). This is a great opportunity for you to join the Global Education Cluster Rapid Response Team (RRT). This is a group of coordination experts who are rapidly deployable to support education coordination in humanitarian crises. They support the key function of the Global Education Cluster: to provide operational support and guidance to humanitarian coordination mechanisms at the field level to ensure predictable, well-coordinated and equitable provision of education in Emergency for children affected by crisis. RRT members deploy to country or regional offices of Cluster Lead Agencies Save the Children and UNICEF, at a minimum of 48 hours’ notice. With first priority given to IASC declared Level 3 emergencies, RRT members predominantly support by: * Establishing and/or leading Education Clusters at national and sub-national level, ensuring a coordinated and predictable Education In Emergencies response through consultative, evidence based strategy. * Management of inter-agency assessments, focusing on sudden-onset needs assessment, but also assessment in slow-onset or chronic emergencies. * Technical assistance in the area of Information Management; supporting Education Clusters or Sector Working Groups with the development of information Management Systems and tools, training on information management issues, website development and more. * Capacity Building of staff at the field level, deployable staff and those supporting education in emergencies response from global, regional and national level. This role will also lead work around accountability to children, including both child led and child informed situation and response monitoring. EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS * Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in the social sciences (international development, international relations, education, or related technical field), information management or related technical field. * Demonstrated experience with Cluster Coordination and the humanitarian coordination architecture. * Demonstrated experience in accountability to children - * Proficient in Microsoft Office (with exceptional skills in Excel). * Strong interest and motivation for inter-agency coordination. * Excellent communication skills in English and French. Proficiency in Arabic, Spanish would be an advantage. * Flexibility, diplomacy, leadership, cultural sensitivity and team-spirit are considered essential personal features. * Organisational skills and ability to work with limited experience. * Several years of progressively responsible experience in education in emergencies and humanitarian coordination. * Strong understanding of and experience implementing the Humanitarian Program Cycle. * Demonstrated understanding of education in emergencies programming and monitoring. * Willingness to deploy up to 50% of the time to humanitarian contexts, often at short notice.
