The organization will work with UNESCO and the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology (MoEST), to gather information on CSE to inform UNESCO’s O³ Programme. The aim of the youth-teacher dialogue is to create a safe space for students and teachers to discuss experiences with CSE delivery in schools as well as express their needs for CSE. In March 2018, UNESCO launched a project titled ‘Our Rights, Our lives, Our Future’ which seeks to improve sexual and reproductive health (SRH), gender and education outcomes for adolescents and young people in the Sub-Saharan Africa region through sustained reductions in new HIV/STI infections, early and unintended pregnancy and gender-based violence. The project supports delivery of good quality CSE that empowers adolescents and young people, and builds agency while developing the skills, knowledge, attitudes and competencies required for preventing HIV, reducing early and unintended pregnancies and eliminating gender based violence. The project has four main objectives designed to contribute to the effective strengthening of sexuality education programmes: a) Secure and sustain strong political commitment and support for adolescents and young people’s access to comprehensive sexuality education and sexual and reproductive health services across Sub- Saharan Africa. b) Support the delivery of accurate, rights-based and good quality comprehensive sexuality education programmes that provide knowledge, values and skills essential for safer behaviours, reduced adolescent pregnancy, and gender equality c) Ensure that schools and community environments are safer, healthier and inclusive for all young people d) Strengthen the evidence base on CSE and safer school environments=v The youth-teacher dialogue is planned to take place from August to October 2020. This activity will be executed in close collaboration with the Department for Inspectorate and Advisory Services (DIAS) in the MoEST as well as the Ministries of Gender and Youth. DIAS will approve the organization to allow them to enter schools for recruiting participants, and all ministries will provide input on the agenda and recruitment as well as benefit from collected data. The dialogue will bring together 150 participants from secondary schools; 30 secondary school Life Skills Education (LSE) teachers and 120 students. The attending students will represent ten schools and be selected based on interest and involvement, e.g. through participation at in-school youth clubs on SRHR. They will share perspectives and opinions of those directly experiencing Life Skills Education. Students from functional literacy centres which are supported by UNICEF will also be invited to share perspectives of out-of-school youth. This activity will benefit from lessons learnt by dialogues between youth and district officials, conducted by UNFPA. Discussions will be recorded and used by M&E point persons from the facilitating organisation as part of collected data. Organization and facilitation of the event, recruitment of participants, development of questionnaires and data selection tools, and monitoring and evaluation will be done by the selected consultancy. The youth-teacher-dialogue work assignment will include preparation of event. Specifically provision of meeting venue, invitation of participants, management and payment of logistics (venue, catering, accommodation). The organisation and coordination plan for the youth-teacher dialogue will be subject to MoEST approval with input from Ministries of Youth, Gender and other stakeholders. The selected consultancy will coordinate data gathering and compilation of reports in consultation with UNESCO. Specific deliverables will be; 1. Inception report (incl. agenda, location, outline of event and participants, data collection forms and strategies) 2. Execution of event 3. - A minimum of one year experience in implementing activities related to education and CSE, HIV & AIDS prevention, sexual and reproductive health or related field;
- A complement of staff who have a Bachelor’s degree in any of the following fields: Education, Social Sciences, Public Health, Psychology, Gender Studies, Community Health, Statistics, or related fields
- A complement of staff who are fluent in English and Chichewa.
- Experience organizing events with youth;
- Experience conducting research;
- Experience in report writing
