WFP save lives by getting food to the hungry fast, but WFP also works to help prevent hunger in the future. This is achieved through programmes that use food as a means to build assets, spread knowledge and nurture stronger, more dynamic communities. This helps communities become more food secure. WFP has developed expertise in a range of areas including Analysis" id="link" class="link">Food Security Analysis, Nutrition, Food Procurement and Logistics to ensure the best solutions for the world's hungry. WFP is the world’s largest humanitarian agency. The Facilities Management branch includes teams focused on creating, maintaining, and enhancing the WFP working environment, in line with the organization's objectives of cost excellence, environmental sustainability, and staff wellness. The Landmark HQ Initiative is one of the units within the Facilities Management branch and is a multi-year programme with the mandate to expand and renovate the WFP Headquarters building. Landmark stakeholders include WFP staff in HQ and the field, Senior Management, Government of Italy authorities, the Property Owner, external engineers, and architects as appointed. ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: Reporting to the Landmark HQ Project Manager, the Project Engineer will be part of the project team for the Landmark HQ Initiative and will support any construction and facilities management initiative for the Infrastructure and Facilities Management Branch (RMMI). The specific duties include, but are not limited to, the following: General Description of Tasks •           Supervise and ensure that works done by contractors are performed promptly and according to specifications; •           Monitor the progress of construction works and the relevant expenditures; •           Prepare periodic reports on the economic and financial aspects of site management; •           Assist the Project Manager in all matters related to the management of construction sites. •           Update project planning and scheduling before and during construction phase reflecting current conditions; •           Support the technical and financial Administration of the contract, within the original scope and funding, including contingency funds; •           Prepare the documentation required for the analysis and eventual approval of change orders to the construction contract (within the original scope, value and timeframes) for approval by the Project Manager; •           Support the PM for the interpretation of the technical conditions of the Contract for WFP and for the evaluation of the Contractor’s performance. •           Keep updated records of progress payments and endorse them to the PM’s approval; •           Approve minor changes, not involving additional cost and/or construction duration; •           Inspect the construction site during construction, to ensure compliance to the construction contract requirements; •           Assist and support the final testing and final inspection for facility approval; •           Provide technical advice to the PM in the case of work stops, should it be required to ensure the proper execution of the contract; •           Analyze all Contractor’s claims relating to the execution and progress of the work or the interpretation of the Contract Documents; •           Produce organized, accurate and well documented records conforming to required format with well analyzed data. •           Participate to all meetings that will occur before and during the construction phase between all the figures involved in the process. QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Education: Master's Degree (5 years) in Engineering. Post-graduate, or other, qualification / experience in health and safety in construction field Experience: At least 5 years of relevant, post-graduate professional experience in project management of construction, including the Coordination, design, and construction of large-scale buildings Experience in Structural design and Building Systems design Knowledge & Skills:Computer literacy - Microsoft Project; Microsoft Office (Word and Excel); Autocad; Adobe Photoshop and IllustratorLanguages: Fluency in Italian (written, spoken, and oral comprehension) Fluency in English (written, spoken, and oral comprehension) Closing date: 6 January 2020
