ABOUT THE POST The HRMOF team is searching for a Front-end Developer to contribute to HR’s ongoing transformation within the World Food Programme. As part of this transformation, the HRMOF team, which facilitates the effectively deployment of talent during emergencies, is working on developing a HR Emergency Rosters & Deployments portal.  This web-based application will allow better end-user experiences, improvements in internal processes, and a one-stop-shop for tracking and managing deployments during an emergency. The consultant is required to work remotely with possible travels to Rome. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)
  1. Manage, monitor, and mentor junior team member(s);

  2. Lead the development and testing of the web-based HR Emergency Rosters & Deployments portal and other systems, that are robust, reliable, efficient, and ‘bug-free’.

  3. Provide technical expertise and develop functionalities utilizing standard development tools.

  4. Produce specifications and any technical documentation (process, architecture, standards component) required for quality insurance and future maintenance of the system.

  5. Develop user interfaces based on WFP’s UI kit.

  6. Conduct unit, regression and performance testing; develop test scripts for end-users if needed.

  7. Participate in requirement gathering sessions and Design sessions to ensure and validate system capability and design.

  8. Work collaboratively with the HR team to understand business requirements, conceptualize innovative website design ideas that bring simplicity and user friendliness and contribute to identifying creative solutions.

  9. Work in alignment with the in-house team of developers to ensure any developments are coherently integrated with other corporate technology platforms.

  10. Other duties as necessary.

  • Web Application Development Experience in front-end UI development ReactJS (single page applications), Redux, Javascript, ES6, Axios, HTML5, CSS GRID, Flux.

  • Experience with RESTful Web APIs.

  • Good knowledge of Database and Data modelling.

  • Proficiency in Web Graphic User Interface (GUI) design and development.

  • Knowledge of Unit Testing and Test-Driven Development.

  • Knowledge of Git and best practices for merging, branching, and pull requests.

  • Experience working within Agile development environments.

  • Experience through the different stages of Software Development Life Cycle.

  • Knowledge with WFP UX/UI is a PLUS.

  • Experience with VSCode/ Jira/ Azure DevOps is a PLUS.

  • Project Management skills is a PLUS.

  • Strong Problem Solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills.

  • Excellent and demonstrated capability to work collaboratively within a team.

  • Ability to work independently (and remotely) with minimal supervision.
