The International Monetary Fund is seeking candidates for an Advisor in its Research Department.
Under the general direction of the Department Director or her designate in the immediate office, the selected candidate will contribute to the department’s research and policy agenda, as well as contribute to strengthening the Department’s work on trade, the international financial and monetary system, and political economy. The candidate will be expected to work closely with senior staff in the Immediate Office and economists in different divisions within the Research Department, as well as interact with Senior Staff across the Fund.
The successful candidate should have demonstrated intellectual leadership and the capacity to carry out a wide range of policy-related and high-quality research, as evidenced by a strong publication record in major economics journals; strong work management and communication skills. Strong leadership abilities—including in strategic thinking and organization—and excellent coaching and mentoring skills. Previous experience on issues related to monetary policy, macroeconomics, political economy, labor market issues and their policy implications would be an advantage, as would a track record of intellectual leadership in these areas. Deep knowledge of the IMF policy work, including through mission leadership and/or authorship of policy papers, is a plus, as is work experience in major private and public institutions.
