Job Description
Job Posting Organization:
UNICEF, established in 1946, is a United Nations agency responsible for providing humanitarian and developmental aid to children worldwide. With a mission to promote the rights and well-being of every child, UNICEF operates in over 150 countries and has a workforce of more than 13,000 employees. The organization focuses on various areas including education, health, nutrition, and protection, ensuring that children have access to essential services and support.

Job Overview:
The position requires one or more professionals to provide services in reviewing, editing, and correcting style in documents, materials, presentations, and publications for UNICEF. The aim is to ensure linguistic quality, narrative coherence, terminological consistency, and adherence to UNICEF's editorial standards. The Long-Term Agreement (LTA-LVC) established will be non-binding, meaning it does not commit UNICEF to procure services but will outline fixed terms of reference and pricing. The initial period of the LTA-LVC is one year, with the possibility of extension for up to three years based on satisfactory performance. Services will be required periodically as needs arise across various UNICEF areas.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The contracted professional will be responsible for ensuring that all submitted materials meet UNICEF's standards and comply with its policies, including inclusive language and gender perspectives. Responsibilities include verifying the correct use of terminology and phraseology, ensuring logical flow and completeness of texts, and maintaining relevance, readability, clarity, and internal consistency with previous documents. The professional will conduct spelling, grammatical, and punctuation checks, identify ambiguous statements made by authors, and verify the accuracy of references and sources according to APA standards. The final product will include documents, materials, presentations, and publications that require editing and correction during the contractual period, with specifications provided by UNICEF's thematic areas. The professional must ensure grammatical flow, coherence, and structure while reviewing style consistency and formatting.

Required Qualifications:
Minimum qualifications include a degree in Communication, Audiovisuals, Photography, or related fields. A postgraduate degree in Spanish language, Spanish literature, or editing in Spanish is desirable. Candidates must demonstrate experience in editing and correcting documents related to social sciences or international development, particularly in childhood and adolescence topics. They should provide three work samples or references from three clients to validate their experience. Additionally, candidates should have a minimum of three years of experience working with international cooperation agencies, NGOs, or academic institutions in editing, correction, or document preparation related to international development or childhood issues, supported by two contracts or client references.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess a professional degree in Communication, Literature, Linguistics, or related disciplines. A postgraduate qualification in Spanish language, literature, or editing is preferred. Documentation to support educational qualifications must be provided during the application process.

Experience:
Candidates should have at least three years of relevant experience in editing and style correction, particularly in documents related to social sciences or international development. Experience working with international agencies or NGOs is essential, and candidates must provide evidence of their previous work through contracts or client references.

Languages:
Proficiency in Spanish is mandatory, as the role involves editing and correcting documents in this language. Knowledge of additional languages may be considered an asset but is not required.

Additional Notes:
The LTA-LVC will be for a period of one year, with the possibility of renewal for up to three years based on performance. The services will be provided at a total cost, meaning all unforeseen expenses required for service delivery will be covered by the professional. Payments will be made in local currency (soles) upon satisfactory completion of the products, within 30 days of approval. If travel is required, costs will be covered by UNICEF. The professionals hired will not be considered 'staff members' under UN regulations and will not be entitled to benefits such as vacation or medical insurance. They are responsible for their tax obligations and ensuring valid visas and medical insurance for the duration of the contract. Selected candidates must confirm full vaccination against COVID-19 before starting the assignment, although this does not apply to remote consultants.
