Job Overview:
The position of Online Volunteer involves delivering live training sessions on essential software tools such as Git, GitHub, Docker, and Deployment as part of the Innovation Campus programme. The volunteer will be responsible for reviewing and enhancing existing training materials, preparing supporting demonstrations, and engaging with participants during live sessions. This role is crucial in ensuring that participants, who are primarily students with a beginner technical background, receive quality education and support in these areas. The volunteer will conduct a minimum of three live online lectures, each focusing on one of the specified topics, and will also be tasked with creating pre-recorded demonstrations to supplement the live training. The expected time commitment for this role is between 11 to 15 hours per week, with a flexible schedule that includes evening sessions on weekdays and morning sessions on weekends.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Online Volunteer will undertake several key responsibilities, including:
  • Reviewing and improving three existing slide decks related to Git & GitHub, Docker, and Deployment to ensure they are up-to-date and effective for training purposes.
  • Preparing one pre-recorded demonstration for each of the three topics, which will be shared with participants prior to the corresponding live sessions.
  • Delivering three live online lectures, each dedicated to one of the topics, which will include practical coding demonstrations to enhance learning.
  • Actively engaging with participants during the live sessions by answering questions and providing support as needed.
  • Documenting the updates made to the training materials in a brief summary to ensure clarity and continuity for future sessions.
  • Participating in coordination meetings with the SDG AI Lab to align on objectives and expectations for the training.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates for this position should possess a solid understanding of Git, GitHub, Docker, and Deployment processes. They should have experience in delivering training or educational content, particularly in a technical context. Strong communication skills are essential, as the volunteer will be interacting with participants and addressing their queries. Additionally, the ability to work collaboratively with the team and adapt materials to meet the needs of the audience is crucial. Familiarity with online teaching platforms and tools is also beneficial.

Educational Background:
A background in computer science, software engineering, or a related field is preferred for this position. Candidates should have a foundational understanding of programming and software development practices, as well as experience with the tools being taught. Educational qualifications may include a degree or certification in relevant areas, though practical experience and demonstrable skills may also be considered.

Experience:
The ideal candidate should have prior experience in teaching or training, particularly in technical subjects related to software development and deployment. Experience with online teaching formats and the ability to engage a diverse audience is highly valued. Familiarity with the specific tools (Git, GitHub, Docker) and their applications in real-world scenarios will enhance the candidate's effectiveness in this role.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, as the training sessions will be conducted in English. Proficiency in Turkish is also required to effectively communicate with participants, as the sessions will accommodate both English and Turkish-speaking students. Knowledge of additional languages may be considered an asset but is not required.

Additional Notes:
