Rousto Charity Civil Society Organization is a grassroots nonprofit organization established to promote the social, economic, intellectual, and informational development of cities and districts in Tajikistan. With over 15 years of experience, Rousto has been dedicated to transforming rural lives by working closely with underserved communities to build sustainable futures. The organization has successfully implemented more than 25 targeted projects that address critical systemic challenges. Their comprehensive development model focuses on five core pillars: Education & Health, Empowerment, Governance, Climate Action, and Community Resilience. Rousto aims to secure funding from regional and international donors to implement projects that improve access to quality education and healthcare, as well as employment opportunities for vulnerable populations in remote rural areas. The organization is committed to bridging the gap between urban and rural areas, ensuring that all communities have the resources and support they need to thrive.

Job Overview:
The role of the online volunteer is crucial for the organization as it involves collaborating with the team to secure essential funding from major regional and international donor agencies, including corporate foundations like Cisco. The volunteer will be responsible for drafting high-quality, compelling grant proposals that are tailored to meet the specific evaluation criteria of these donors. This includes structuring clear problem statements, project objectives, implementation methodologies, and measurable impact metrics. The volunteer will also integrate local data, transforming internal organizational data, statistics, and project insights into a persuasive case for support. Additionally, the volunteer will review and polish existing drafts to ensure they meet the rigorous compliance and formatting standards set by institutional grantmakers. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to meaningful projects that aim to improve the lives of individuals in rural Tajikistan.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Draft Project Proposals: Write high-quality, compelling grant proposals tailored to the specific evaluation criteria of major international donors.
  • Refine Narratives: Structure clear problem statements, project objectives, implementation methodologies, and measurable impact metrics.
  • Integrate Local Data: Transform internal organizational data, statistics, and project insights provided by the team into a persuasive case for support.
  • Review & Polish: Edit and refine existing drafts to ensure they meet the rigorous compliance and formatting standards of institutional grantmakers.
  • Collaborate with the team to gather necessary organizational data, field insights, and documentation required for high-quality applications.
  • Maintain effective communication with the team through WhatsApp for day-to-day messaging and updates.
  • Participate in virtual meetings via Zoom or WhatsApp for strategic discussions and project briefings.

Required Qualifications:
  • Strong writing skills with a proven ability to draft compelling grant proposals.
  • Familiarity with grant writing and funding processes, particularly for international donors.
  • Ability to analyze and synthesize complex information into clear and persuasive narratives.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to meet compliance and formatting standards.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to collaborate effectively with the team.
  • Proficiency in using Google Drive and other collaborative tools for document management.

Educational Background:
A background in communications, nonprofit management, international development, or a related field is preferred. Candidates with experience in grant writing or fundraising will be given priority. A degree in a relevant field is advantageous but not strictly required if the candidate has substantial experience in grant writing.

Experience:
Candidates should have prior experience in grant writing or a related field, with a demonstrated ability to produce high-quality written materials. Experience working with nonprofit organizations or in international development is highly desirable. Familiarity with the specific challenges faced by rural communities in Tajikistan will be considered an asset.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, as all proposals and communications will be conducted in English. Knowledge of Tajik or Russian is a plus, as it may facilitate better understanding of local contexts and data.

Additional Notes:
This is a volunteer position with flexible scheduling. There are no rigid or preset dates and times required for availability. All virtual meetings and deadlines will be mutually agreed upon in advance to accommodate both the volunteer and the organization's team. The organization is committed to providing full support to the volunteer by gathering and providing all necessary organizational data, field insights, and documentation required for high-quality applications.
