Job Overview:
UNICEF Pakistan is scaling up efforts to protect children from the impacts of climate change, environmental degradation, and disasters. The organization is establishing a Generic Consultant Roster (GCR) to include pre-vetted individual consultants with expertise in climate change, energy, and environment sectors. Consultants will be engaged for specific, temporary assignments based on their expertise and the needs of UNICEF and government partners. The role involves providing specialized technical expertise to develop and strengthen systems that protect children from climate-related risks, ensuring alignment with UNICEF's Strategic Plan and Sustainability and Climate Change Action Plan. Consultants may apply to one or more areas of expertise, contributing to the development of child-sensitive policies and strategies, climate finance, renewable energy, climate data, and environmental health.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Consultants will perform a range of duties, including providing technical support for the development of climate-related policies and strategies, supporting the implementation of Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) and National Adaptation Plans (NAPs), and ensuring alignment with child rights standards. They will engage in high-level political discussions to prioritize children's rights in climate policies. Specific tasks may include managing climate finance proposals, conducting economic and financial analyses, supporting sustainable energy programming, and facilitating stakeholder engagement on environmental health issues. Consultants will also be responsible for analyzing climate data, conducting risk assessments, and developing innovative solutions for climate-smart technologies and services.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree in relevant fields such as climate change, environmental sciences, public health, or international development. A minimum of 10 years of relevant professional experience in areas such as climate change policy, climate finance, and environmental health is required. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent communication abilities, and experience in stakeholder engagement are essential. Educational Background:
An advanced university degree in climate change, environmental sciences, public health, disaster risk management, or related disciplines is required. Experience:
Candidates should have at least 10 years of relevant professional experience in one or more of the specified areas of expertise. This experience should include work with government agencies, UN organizations, or development partners, demonstrating advanced capabilities in policy assessment and technical analysis in climate and environmental contexts. Experience in developing child-sensitive policies and engaging with stakeholders across sectors is highly valued.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, while knowledge of Urdu and/or relevant provincial/local languages is considered an advantage. Effective communication skills in both written and verbal forms are essential for conveying complex climate concepts to diverse audiences.
