Job Posting Organization:
The job is located within the United Nations Support Office in Haiti (UNSOH), which was established to provide support primarily to the Gang Suppression Force (GSF), the United Nations Integrated Office in Haiti (BINUH), the Haitian National Police (HNP), and the Haitian Armed Forces. UNSOH is also tasked with delivering technical assistance to the Organization of American States (OAS). Job Overview:
The Transport Assistant position is a temporary role that involves providing support to UN staff in the field, specifically within the Transport Section under the Service Delivery Management Pillar of the Mission Support Division. The incumbent will report to the Fleet Management/Fleet Operations Supervisor or their designate, under the Chief Transport Officer (CTO). The role requires assisting in various transport operations, including inventory control, asset management, and ensuring compliance with established transport contracts. The Transport Assistant will also be responsible for managing vehicle maintenance, preparing documentation for meetings, and ensuring that all transport assets are accounted for and returned appropriately. The position emphasizes the importance of efficiency and economy in transport operations, as well as adherence to UN regulations and policies.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Transport Assistant will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including but not limited to: assisting in inventory control and asset management; managing transport contracts and purchase orders; implementing vehicular asset requirements; ensuring workshop support with spare parts; addressing audit observations; controlling the surface transport pool; monitoring vehicle maintenance costs; preparing documentation for Vehicle Establishment Change Requests; maintaining accurate inventory records; administering transport contracts; coordinating with workshop and warehouse personnel; compiling reports on fleet status; conducting driver testing and orientation for new personnel; monitoring fleet utilization; and performing additional tasks as required by the supervisor.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a high school diploma or equivalent. A valid driver's license for 'B' category is required, and vocational training in Logistics or Motor Mechanics is desirable. Knowledge of fleet management systems is also beneficial. Candidates should demonstrate professionalism, effective communication skills, teamwork, planning, and organizational abilities.

Educational Background:
A high school diploma or equivalent is mandatory for this position. Additionally, vocational training or certification in logistics or motor mechanics is preferred, and candidates are required to provide copies of relevant certifications along with their application.

Experience:
Candidates must have at least seven years of progressively responsible experience in transport operations management. This experience should demonstrate a strong understanding of logistics and fleet management, as well as the ability to handle complex transport operations effectively.

Languages:
The working languages of the United Nations Secretariat are English and French. For this position, proficiency in both languages is required, with a minimum level of II in reading, writing, listening, and speaking for both languages according to the UN Language Framework.

Additional Notes:
This temporary position is available for three months and may be subject to termination or adjustment based on funding and staffing approvals.
